1. Post about something that made you happy today even if it's just a small thing. 2. Do this everyday for a week without fail. 3. Tag 8 of your friends to do the same
I'm not really the sort to tag people, so do it if you wanna, guys.
Today... two happy points. I got a v-gift from jennywho, and it cheered me. Secondly, I looked through the galleries on David Ho's website and found some gorgeous art.
( Like these! )
I'll try to remember to do this every day for a week... try to remind me if I forget, guys? |

Feeling old and stiff today. I wrenched my knee earlier and it's still kinda sore. Been coughing a lot, and I have a headache, but I'm almost out of Advil. Nothing horrific or dangerous of course, just a bunch of little unpleasantries. It is at least a good bit warmer than yesterday, with tomorrow set to be warmer still.
Hopefully tonight the Trail of Lights thing will actually happen. Tomorrow afternoon I'm hanging out with jennywho and if I hear back from D. & N., they should be coming over for pizza. Friday afternoon Patricia from HAND is coming and we're gonna get my kitchen clean, and then Friday evening doombuggie and I talked about hanging out. And Saturday is D. & N.'s party.
I don't remember the last time I've had a week like this! It's intimidating. |

Takato Yamamoto is GOD.
A lot of this art is NSFW. All of it is gorgeous. Ukiyo-E, Art Noveau, and Hieronymous fucking Bosch frolic in this guy's brain. And he makes it all beautiful. Go look. Look and be awestruck. |

My butt is cold.
I need a heating pad for my butt.
Taking a bus to meet someone in the cold and dark and not pinning down the meeting spot well enough and standing around miserably for an hour and a half sucks. Standing around with people being smug and smiling and loud Christmas music playing. At least I still know how to layer.
Capitol Metro doesn't accept my Disability fare card for the Trail of Lights shuttle.
Miserable evening and I am stiff and creaky. |

How can it possibly be the end of 2008?
I think to me it will always be 1991, and I'll always be 19 and just moved into a little rented room. The 21st century still looms, but hasn't come yet. Or even earlier, 1988, and I'm about to turn 16 and am too naive to know that the guy I'm in love with is gonna break me.
But... 2008? Weeks away from 2009? How can that be? How can that possibly be? How can I possibly be 36?
I feel more like Molly Grue every year. |

Have invited D. & N. over for pizza, cookies, and DVDage on Thursday. Papa John's still has the large with up to 7 toppings & a 2 liter for $13, which should be in my budget. Eeek, hostessing! And of course Saturday is their party. If my order from HolyClothing comes in time I will have a pretty black top and skirt to wear; if not, I have that HolyClothing purple dress. For perfume, probably Conjure Oils Naughty.
Hmmm. For Thurs? Maybe my burgundy HolyClothing dress and Chanukkiyah. I won't have to go outside so warmth won't be such a worry. |

Hecate can hear and recognize the sound of me opening the Feline Greenies bag from across the apartment, and will come running. doombuggie, she may never consent to reveal herself in your presence, but indirectly she adores you.
It's 35 degrees in Austin right now, and today and tomorrow are supposed to be a little rainy too. I'm glad my heat is at least semifixed! it'sforecast to warm up later in the week, at least.
I've been coughing the past few days. Not scary-bad, but enough to suck. Oh well. What I really hate is that itchy-collarbones feeling that goes with it, like, itchy from the inside. Does anyone else get that, or is it another example of my freakishness?
And hahahahahahahahhahahahaha, I have managed to enable acidrica bigtime. I am sucking her into a vortex of BPAL, Conjure Oils, and hogwarts_hocus. I'm evil. |

Amazon is having a huge sale on Shunga products.
Massage oil, body powder, lube, bath gels, all marked down hugely. Like, 75% or more off hugely. Plus, cute shunga labels. And they qualify for super saver shipping! You know you want some!
And yes, I succumbed. Got some bath gels and lubes and the Dr. Horrible DVD. |

Well, not as good as going anywhere, but I indulged in a little retail therapy and ordered a Ukiyo-e calendar for my bathroom. So that is my 2009 calendars acquired; Demotivators for the living room, cats for the kitchen, Ukiyo-e for the bathroom. Of course, if I go to a mall that has a calendar shop giving discounts in January I might get an astrological calendar for the bedroom.
Ok, so I have sort of a fetish for calendars. It's fun flipping the page each month. Maybe I'll even get a page-a-day again this year. |

For some reason I feel restless, a bit agitated. Maybe it's the Effexor. A bit of somewhat dysphoric hypomania. If it wasn't Sunday I'd put it to good use by doing some grocery shopping, but Sunday bus schedules are more than I want to put up with when there's nothing I really need immediately. I wish, I really wish, there was something, anything, worth heading to within walking distance. |

hcolleen made me a desktop wallpaper for when I get my Eee. It uses art by Takato Yamamoto and is along the lines of the gorgeous LJ layout she made me.
( Don't you wanna see? )
Also, didn't Lucky magazine used to be about actual affordable clothes once in a while? I got a free subscription from an Amazon promotion a few months back and all the stuff is way overpriced ($140 for a tanktop???) and half of it belongs on ugly_crap. |

mood: baaaaaaaaaaaa music: Black Happy Day - Be Thou My Vision
|
Black Happy Day's version of "The Lyke Wake Dirge". I thought tere was something vaguely Japanese sounding about it so I asked rehd_fawx and hcolleen. The consensus is that there's something odd about the way they tuned the banjo and dulcimer. Any of you musically inclined sorts want to weigh in? Anyway, I think this album (IN THE GARDEN OF THE GHOSTFLOWERS) was a good find. I got it as an Amazon download but CDBaby has it too (as a download and as a physical download too).
Anyway... that first sentence of every month's posts meme everyone is doing. Friendslocked posts have been excluded. So have memes.
January - Happy New Year!
February - Went to the post office, mailed a bunch of books out.
March - Something that sucks: Having scraped the roof of my mouth, being hungry, and not having much more than toast to eat.
April - Biscuits and gravy (with sausage!) have been had.
May - Stephen Merritt is doing a Coraline musical.
June - So, I stumbled to the mailbox groggy and in kind of a funk.
July - This is why I should not drink 10 cups of tea and mix Adagio blends at two AM.
August - So I recently read Goth Craft by Raven Digitalis.
September - Debating changing my mood theme on my LJ and/or IJ from the Cyclona theme I have now to a Mononoke theme.
October - Birthday goodies time, that is.
November - Just checked my inbox... CnS for my BPAL Yule order, yay!
December - HolyClothing had an extremely limited sale of 100 items that were going for $9.99 each.
Hunh. Altogether less emo and more shopping-oriented than I'd have thought. |

So after waking up with an earworm of "The Lyke-Wake Dirge", I a) played around on freerice.com and bought an all-proceeds-go-to-charity calendar and b) went in search of more recordings of the song in question. Stumbled into Black Happy Day on Amazon. Very nifty in a Dead Can Dance sort of way.
rinner date with D. & N. has happened! Dinner was chicken tinga (or something that sounds like that), and we watched the live action Death Note movie and I met their dogs. They are very small and very friendly dogs. A lot of the conversations seemed to be feeling out how kink-open we were, which was interesting. Also I have been invited to a party on the 20th, which is exciting and terrifying. Invited D. & N. to come over for pizza some night next week.
Right now my nose is running and my back hurts a lot. I'll probably lie down soon. |
