Sad

It had been about a week since she last talked to him. If you wanted get specific you could say it had been 9 days and 4 hours. But Lily didn’t know that because she was not counting the days or the hours. She was far to busy avoiding all the places she normally spent time with him. The Library and the grounds, not that mattered much, it was raining outside, and it matched her mood perfectly. So she was pretty much left with reading in her common room, something that she usually avoided at all cost.

Currently, she was trying her best to read and not let others notice that she was upset. She had already packed everything she wouldn’t need before leaving for the summer. Ugh Summer. She didn’t even want to think about how awful the summer was going to be. This whole situation was horrible. She lost her best friend. A friend she had for so long she wasn’t even sure how she was going to cope with out him. If she weren’t so logical and honest with herself, she’d blame Potter. Add it to the list of reasons that she hated him. If it weren’t for him, then Severus would of never been in that situation, never had the opportunity to call her that foul name. But it wasn’t Potter’s fault. If she wanted to be cynical, she would tell herself she ought to thank Potter for forcing her to see what she had been denying for quite awhile.

She had been so lost in her thoughts that she hadn’t realized she was crying until a tear splattered onto a page in her book. She hastily wiped her eyes and looked around the room hoping that no one had seen. It was late so there weren’t many people in the common room and only one person near her. Potter, who looked like he was making his way towards her. He looked like he was about to say something to her but Lily didn’t want to hear any of it.

“What Potter? Here to tell me I’m better off with out him? That he isn’t worth all this?” She knew that’s what he was going to comment on. What else would he have to say to her? “I don’t need your pity or whatever you’re here to offer.” She said snapping her book shut and heading up the stairs without letting him get a word in edgewise. He probably didn’t deserve her anger being taken out on him, but it was just so much easier to just be mad at him.

First Crush

"You do realize that you are staring, right?" The second year Slytherin said in Lily's ear making her nearly jump out of her skin.

"I am not!" She huffed defensively, not that she had anything to hide from her friend. "What are you doing here anyways, this is the Gryffindor's quidditch practice. I doubt they'll be all to happy if they catch you here. They'll think you're spying."

"What are you doing here? You rarely go the games let alone practices."

"You're avoiding the question."

"As are you." he smirked, it wasn't often that he got see her so flustered without her being angry.

Lily just huffed again folding her arms across her chest and looking away from Severus. "It's none of your business." she said just as the seeker took a spectacular dive, her eyes following his every move.

Her gaze hadn't gone unnoticed. "Ha! You fancy the seeker, don't you!" He prodded, watching her turn a lovely shade of red.

"So what if I do."

"He's a seventh year."

"And?"

"He'll never go for you."

"You don't know that." She said stubbornly. The team was landing and practice was over. Lily glanced over one last time, this time Finn was looking in her direction, probably wondering what she was doing there. Not many people came out and watch practices. Not this early in the season. She quickly turned away so he couldn't see her turning red once again. "Come on, practice is over. Let's go find something else to do."
