They weren't talking about your mother. They were making fun of you. Which I do not agree with by the way but it's a fact.
Also, I slept fine. When you're upset about something you jump to anger and you miss things sometimes. It could be that they're just jealous they don't have a mother to call and tell them things that happen in their life. [Shino's wishes he could call his mother and talk to her like Kiba does.]
