Nobody but Avalon is Home

"Okay." replies Avalon with a grin. He steps in closer to Alex and links his arm with the taller teen before in a blink.. they are on the beach. That whole warping thing can be disconcerting!
Stepping out from behind a building in an alley, Avalon grins at Alex and then says "Here we are!" He sighs deeply, his lips smiling as he then says "I love the beach.. Josh is kind of afraid of the water at times due to his being a weak swimmer."
Alex holds his composure as they warp, rather enjoying holding onto Ava's arm. "And here I thought only my ring could do that," Alex remarks idly.
Following Ava, Alex chuckles. "The beach is awesome," he declares. "I love to surf myself," he adds. "Joshy-boy can't swim?"
"Not all rings can.. It's a special ability for Blues; it helps us get where we need to be faster." replies Ava with a big grin. Being his overly affectionate self, he thinks nothing of them holding on to one another, so Alex's enjoyment doesn't seem odd at all to him.
"I've never tried surfing, it seems a bit crazy!" replies Avalon, his expression lighting up. "I don't know why Josh never learned.. I couldn't learn before I came to Earth and learned the pocket dimension trick. I'm not a water bird, it soaks me to the bone and keeps me from being able to fly if my wings are wet."
Alex grins. "My ring lets me warp like that too. Anywhere I want to go. It's just a pain in the neck and not nearly as fun as flying," he says.
He then laughs. "Yeah, it can be kinda crazy," he admits. "But it's fun. And a decent work out," he adds. "Yeah...you don't seem to have that oily coating on your wings that water birds have. Yours are softer."
"Yea.. Though it's weird.. Mine don't resemble any of the winged creatures on Starhaven, so culturally they're not as 'cool' or whatever you want to call it. I like them though, they are mine, and I couldn't imagine having anything else."
"Maybe you'll have to show me sometime. I'd love to learn.. I just need to get better at what I'm doing in the water. I've not gotten brave enough to go out as far as you sometimes go to surf."
"Maybe they're the wings of something from Naltor. Or even Earth," Alex suggests.
"You wanna learn how to surf?" Alex asks. "Well, I guess I could teach ya sometime," he says with a grin. "Maybe you, me, and Henry could take a trip to a nice surf spot sometime."
"That would be fantastic!" replies Ava who manages to somehow brighten even further. "I know it won't take much to convince Henry. If he already doesn't know how to surf, he'll be determined to do it any way."
They come out to the sand and Ava speeds up a bit, his smile turning bigger as he sees the water. Unlike Josh, he's not worried about being out in the water, unless you count on his own power. With his ring, water is of little consequence.
Alex jumps a bit as Ava gets so bright but just ends up shaking his head. "I look forward to it then," he says with a nod.
While Ava speeds, Alex lets him go and continues just sauntering at a casual pace. He's enjoying the sand and ocean air. "This is what I'm gonna miss about living on this coast..." he murmurs softly.
Too bad Ava didn't hear him. He goes straight for the water, and barely has enough presence of mind to leave the towels and water in the sand before he heads right into the water. He then turns, grinning at Alex as he says "It's a lot colder here than other places. Crazy how the water circuits work, huh?"
Alex laughs as Ava calls to him, taking his time getting to the water. He makes sure to move the towels and water somewhere they'll be safe from being swept away. "Yeah, guess they are. Crazy as the air ones," he laughs, wading out into the water slowly.
"Yea.. things are different here than where I came from." replies Avalon, not wanting to say exactly where in public. "The wind sometimes seems to speak to me, although I've always been a friend of the wind." he then goes on to say with a big grin.
Alex chuckles. "Should introduce you to Maxine," he remarks idly as he swims out to join Ava in the water. "She's all wind-friendly too," he says, thinking of potential comedy of Avalon meeting the senior JSA's Cyclone.
"New York is more cold and polluted," he sighs. "And the waves are not nearly as good."
Crinkling his nose some, Avalon makes a disappointed sound and goes to shake his head. "Maybe you should go try out Australia. It's pretty neat - we visited the reef out there and the water was nice.. No cold and pollution."
He then tilts his head to the side, adding "That or.. just come here more often. I know we'd always be happy to have you."
"Australia..." Alex trails off, thinking it over. Eventually he does decide he'll at least check it out sometime.
"I would like to come out here more," Alex remarks. "But work and school keep me out on the east coast. I had the day off today so I could come by."
"Oh that sucks.." replies Avalon. "I mean.. I understand of course, I was just more trying to encourage you to come and visit more often. That or I shall have to get Henry to make the time to go with me to see you. I need to get out more - I've also enjoyed your being about."
Alex nods, chuckling a little. "I know," he says, laying back to float. "Hanging out with you is fun, ya know."
That just makes Ava flush a bit, and he gives Ales a bit of a shy smile as he says "Well.. thank you." he says softy. "I am doing my best to be fun, I am glad to hear I am succeeding in my endeavor."
"You don't have to try," Alex snickers. "You just are," he goes on. "You shouldn't worry so much about interacting with others. YOu're great."
"Am I?" asks Avalon softly, looking rather shy. "Thank you.. I appreciate it." He splashes a bit at Alex, and then grins as a wave comes in and pushes him towards the other teen. This all causes him to laugh and he bumps into the other teen playfully.
"Yes," Alex replies with a small roll of the eyes. "And you don't have to thank me for it," he says. The splashing is fended off with a raised arm and Alex quickly grabs onto Ava as he's bumped into. "Gotcha."
Having too much of a good time to bother with caring if it's proper or not, Avalon leans in against Alex as he continues to laugh. "Thanks.." he then says with a giggle before he rights himself and starts splashing more at Alex. "Did you bring a board with you?" he asks, "I'd feel bad if you didn't get a chance to catch a wave or two while here."
Alex holds onto Ava for a few moments and then laughs. Splashing back, he shakes his head. "No, sadly. I didn't think I'd get a chance for a beach trip."
"We can always go fetch it." orders Ava, trying to be helpful. He then looks down and gives another giggle before he says "Sand feels so odd squishing between my toes. I know that it's probably old hat for you, but it's all still rather new to me." |
