Space.. That stuff in between planets that freaks Josh the heck out.

Josh's eyes narrow behind his mask at the Guardian's reply.
"And who exactly are you to say who or what is and isn't needed on Earth or in that sector?" he asked calmly. He was very interested in hearing what the Guardian had to say about Henry's question.
"While we are very thankful for his assistance in your duties up until this point, in no way do we think that you should have to depend on him.. or anyone." the Guardian replies, his eyes sliding over to Lifeforce. "To do your duties as a Green Lantern, you should never have to depend on anyone outside of the Corp."
Turning away, the Guardian crosses his arms over his chest and says "The decision is made. It was made twenty years ago when the law was enacted."
"And it's clearly been needed in those last 20 years, huh?"
Josh just scowls when he sees the Guardian looking at him. He takes a breath and takes a step forward.
"Something being a law does not automatically make it right. And further, if the law's so old and has been so unimportant for so long, maybe it existing should be reconsidered," he says.
"And I know your ears are working perfectly despite your age, Guardian. So I know you can hear me," his tone lowers as he says this.
"Just who do you think you are, even addressing me?" rages the Guardian at Josh. Things are starting to get tense.. the Guardians as a whole seem to be taking more and more of an affront to Henry and Josh simply being there and daring to question them.
"The law is important, and one that must be upheld. We do not need the rest of the spectrum to do our sworn duties. The others can help but in the end they simply get in the way. You are both barely just boys, you simply can not grasp the situation and encompass it completely."
"I'll tell you who he is!" Henry moves between the Guardian and Josh. "The first moment he met me, he saved my life from an infection from Black Hand! One of the worst of the worst of all the criminals the Green Lanterns face! Show him some respect!"
Josh starts to reply but Henry beats him to the response. He tenses a moment at the mention of Black Hand on sheer reflex but it passes quickly.
"The name is Lifeforce," he adds simply. "And if you think we don't understand the situation, then explain it."
"At this point, all you are doing is arguing the fact for Lifeforce. If you are trying to impress us and show us that he is a friend of the Green Lantern Corp, then you have done a fantastic job. Despite the fact that you are not allowed to fraternize with others of the light spectrum, there is no law to hold you back from continuing to work on a team with Lifeforce." replies the Guardian. Turning away from Henry and Josh, the Guardian seems to think the conversation is over.
Henry's eyes narrow, and he starts to reach for his ring finger.
If they're going to be this way, he doesn't want anything to do with them anymore. And maybe he can hit the back of the douchebag Guardian's head with this ring as he quits.
Josh sees what Henry's doing and reaches out to grab his hand. "No," he says firmly, whispering to Henry. "Don't. Henry..."
Henry pauses, midway through yanking the ring off. He doesn't look at Josh, but his words at least seem to have had some sort of effect.
After a moment of thinking, Henry turns and storms out, pulling Josh with him.
"We're not done with this," he calls back over his shoulder. "Not by a long shot."
If the Guardians notice the struggle going on between the teens, they give no sign. Henry and Josh are allowed to leave, without a word being said to them otherwise.
Josh is pulled with Henry, frowning in concern. He just glares at the Guardians, white light flaring around him for a moment.
"Now what?" he asks once they're outside the chambers.
"I don't know yet," he replies. "I'm thinking."
He paces back and forth, letting out a growl. "GrrrAGH! This is... UGH! I just..."
Josh waits, watching Henry pace. Eventually he moves to try to stop Henry by placing a hand on either shoulder.
"C'mon. We'll figure something out but let's get away from right here," he glares at the doors quickly.
Some of the anger melts away at Josh's touch. "Alright," he says quietly. "Come on. I've shown you the stupidest parts of Oa." He shoots a glare back at the doors.
"How about I show you some of the more beautiful parts?" He leans in to Josh, resting his forehead on the healer's.
Josh smiles a little as he presses his forehead against Henry's. "I'm looking at one now," he says with a little smirk. "Lead the way to some more though."
"Hey, and that's just with my clothes on," Henry replies with a wink. "C'mon. The stupidity might be catching. Let's get some distance and actually think, where there's not a black hole of intelligence." He takes Josh's hand and, green aura surrounding them both, lifts off from the ground to head to a different site on the planet.
"Well then you'll have to help improve the view by taking them off for me when we get somewhere more private," Josh replies with a smirk and a blush.
He nods and squeezes Henry's hand as they go. One last glance is sent towards the Guardians' door before Josh returns his focus to Henry and the sights they're going to see.
A short time later, they're deep in the deserts of Oa, far from the cities.
Henry lands by the side of a small lake and sits, frowning.
"This isn't right, Josh. They can't just do that."
Josh takes a moment to peer around the desert, just sensing the area. He sits and slips an arm around Henry's shoulders.
"No, it's not right at all. Was tempted to just grab one and start punching..."
Henry chuckles, wrapping an arm around Josh again and leaning in to him. "I would have loved to see that," he admits. "I was going to peg that midget in the back of the head when I quit."
"And I'm glad I stopped you," Josh says with a frown. "Giving up your ring isn't going to help, Henry. Besides, you'll need it when we get Ava back," the healer smiles again.
"Yeah, but it would made me feel better," he pouts. His extended hand rubs Josh's shoulder. "It would have been dumb, yeah, but just seeing it smack off that fuckstick's head would have almost been worth it." He squeeze Josh's shoulder a little. "Almost."
"I know, I know," Josh murmurs, squeezing Henry a little. "But how about I try to make you feel better instead? Just a bit anyway," he suggests, leaning over to press a kiss to Henry's cheek. "And then later, maybe we can beat the idiot out of Grumpy Smurf back there."
A small amount of anger disperses with a kiss from Josh, in the form of a grunt. He pulls Josh in for a side-squeeze.
"Yeah, as much as it would feel good, I don't think we CAN. We need to use our brains for this." He gives a playful grin to Josh. "Not my strongest suit."
Josh chuckles and gives Henry another little kiss closer to the mouth. "You're smarter than you give yourself credit for, Henry," he says.
"Hmm. There some kind of central records building or library on this planet?" he asks. "Maybe we can do some research."
"Nah, I just get by on looks," he responds, a teasing tone still in his voice, letting Josh's kisses move closer to his mouth. "I get all the best heroes to stick around me through sheer sexual magnetism. It's a gift."
His hand moves to the back of Josh's scalp, where it runs through his hair, giving slow, gentle scratches. "Seriously, the library is probably a good idea. I mean, if we can get a chance to check out the Book of Oa... that'd probably help us find the legal arguments we need. And maybe we should make an appointment to see the Green Lantern lawyer."
"Please," Josh chuckles quietly. "That's not the only reason the best heroes stick around you," he says, hoping to disperse more of that anger.
The scratches get a low mmmm out of Josh. Placing a quick kiss on Henry's lips, the healer pulls back and quirks a brow. "Green Lantern lawyer?" he asks. "Now I know it's entirely possible for a member of the Corps to be a lawyer but you're telling me the corps has one who's specifically the lawyer for the whole thing?"
He returns the kiss when offered, then raises an eyebrow at Josh.
"Yeah. Who do you think does the prosecution of the criminals we capture?" He leans back until he's lying on the sand, his arms behind his head, as he shuts his eyes, allowing the conversation and presence of his boyfriend to relax him.
"And you're right. For the best heroes to stick around, I need to put out for them sometimes."
"I dunno. I figured they went through the legal systems of their planets of origin or wherever they committed the crimes," Josh shrugs. He joins Henry on the sand, snuggling up to his boyfriend. "So where is this Book of Oa and is any little blue gnome going to have a conniption fit if I decide to go read some of it?"
"Goof," Josh snickers. "Good as that is, we stick around for another reason."
"It's that thing I do with my tongue, right?" He bumps Josh with his shoulder. "And the Book of Oa is available to look through for any Green Lantern. You can come with me when I do. It's sort of... the whole history of the Corps, all in one site."
Josh rolls his eyes and bumps Henry right back. "Nope," he says, chuckling. "There's more to you than just being a sexy beast that's great in bed," he insists. The healer then nods. "Useful. I wanna know exactly when and why this little law was put into place. I noticed a good way to help get rid of a law is to show that it's no longer applicable to the current day."
"Good point," Henry nods. "We can head there in a minute." Then he gives Josh a mock-blank stare and slips into a surfer-like accent. "...sex, great body..." He gives a smile and nod one might expect of a slow-witted man. "Oh yeah. That's right. I cook, too." He gives a hang-loose hand-signal and sticks out his tongue at Josh.
Josh just laughs and reaches over to give Henry a noogie. "You goofball," he says fondly. "You know what I mean. You're just messing with me."
"Yeah," he smirks, elbowing Josh gently back.
"...it's 'cause I'm hung."
Josh blushes and laughs. "Dude, so not what I mean but it's definitely a plus."
Henry takes a deep sigh, holding on to Josh as he leans back on the ground in silence, the anger slowly evaporating out of him.
Josh gives a little sigh of his own and leans down with Henry. The healer stays quiet, just watching Henry with his senses and planning their next moves. |
