history

Marlie Loke did not have the most traditional of upbringings. Not only were her parents not married, but they didn't live together. Sure, this was common among children who had divorced parents, but it wasn't like that for Marlie. She never felt any pressure to choose between the two of them, since they were so unbelievably close. Sometimes, it didn't make sense to her, why the two of them weren't married, but as she got older she came to realize that they shared a different sort of love. But this didn't mean that she wouldn't try to push them together every now and then. Didn't work, but she did try for a while. Eventually she gave up, realizing that her efforts were futile. She was bound to alternate houses, sleeping at her Mom’s one week, helping her garden and talking about “girl things”, and then at her Dad’s the next, staying up late to watch movies, listening to him tell jokes that would make her giggle.

Even to this day, Marlie is always bouncing back and forth. It was a bit difficult at times, since she had to catch different buses to get to school, but she made it work. Everything got easier when she was in Junior year of High School and got her own car, making transportation a million times easier. Now she can bounce from her Mom’s to her Dad’s in the same day, without wasting countless hours peddling on her bicycle. It also made getting to work much easier. She got a job as soon as she entered 12th grade, applying to the local Market to make some extra money, and has been working there ever since, even while attending College. She is currently going for a degree in Liberal Arts, since she is not yet sure what she wants to be when she gets older.

Growing up, it was clear to see that Marlie was Daddy’s little girl. Not that she didn’t have an extremely close relationship with her mom, but she absolutely adored her Dad. She would constantly jump on his mattress every morning to wake him up for Church, and even when she got older this tactic is still a last resort. Sitting and listening to him play made her smile, and every now and then she’d be a part of his music; supplying vocals to some of his songs. They are still as close as ever, and she is sure that if anything were to happen to her Dad, she’d be lost forever. She wouldn’t know what to do with herself, and would most likely collapse. Even her Mother, who she loves dearly with all of her heart, couldn’t bring her back from that devastating event.
