Guilt.
Being drugged could probably excuse the explicit sexual harrassment of a friend and colleague.
Other girls, with lesser boyfriends, might even be excused for the attempted infidelity.
But this was practically treason. A logical endangerment of the Work. And worse, it was hurting Andrew.

Gio sat in the bed she'd been morosely put to as the doctor looked her over. She still found foreign doctors humiliating and inappropriate, but what pride could really be left after what she'd done?

She wondered how Sengai had explained to him what happened. It occurs to her that he might have left all but the most essential points to her.

Maybe a better girlfriend would keep her mouth shut to avoid hurting him, but she couldn't lie to Andrew.
