1) Stranded in some forsaken corner of the multiverse, stripper of her godhood and with it, most of her power, it was the understatement of the century to say that Aslief was not a happy individual.
But she still had some measure of power, and more importantly, still had her mind. Was she not the granddaughter of the lord of lies? Craftiness and cleverness were her stock in trade.
2) To say the young man was arrogant was to say the least. But she has to admit, as she took in the show in her quest to find other magical practitioners, that he was talented. And even more talented in the art of misdirection and manipulation.
3) She accosted him after the show to talk, but likely handled it badly. His own arrogance brought her own back to the surface. Her powers were more diminished than she had thought. Humbled at her loss, she told her story.
4) Though unable to help return her to her proper place, she discovered a friend. She may well have had feelings for him over time, but respected what boundaries were in place.
5) Though Asleif was unable to return to her proper universe, she held her friendship dearly. Mostly mortal, she worried about what her absence meant for the cosmos... A worry even her friend's assurances never dispelled. | |
