Some royal function or other had come up (Atlantis hosting some various nobles from other countries), Marrina required an escort, and Mason was laid up with a broken leg. Fortunately, Jordan volunteered to fill his brother's shoes. (though not literally, because elf-shoes didn't fit normal people)

2) In spite of that, Jordan insisted on doing everything like a proper gentleman. A skill he'd more than demonstrated time and time before.

3) Not that she'd ever tell Mason, of course, but Marrina definitely thought Jordan was the better dancer.

4) A snide comment from an Atlantean courtier about the Princess "having traded up" set both their bloods boiling.

5) Not that they told Mason about that.
