Lyta had been away on business for a bit. And then, after coming back from this last trip, her father had presented her with an oppourtunity of a lifetime. Run the New Orleans office. Sure, it was small, and sort of just getting started, but it was a chance for to take charge of a smaller part of thing that she would run entirely someday. Plus, she could pick out swanky new office furniture. Always a plus. The only downside was she'd have to pack up and leave in the week, which gave her limited time to say goodbye to everyone, and she'd be leaving her brother behind. Not that Gabe couldn't handle himself or anything, but still, they were twins, and hardly apart from each other most of the time. Lyta was used to always having Gabe close by. It sounded corny, but he really was her best friend, if she had to pick someone who wasn't Irina.
Lyta was stopping by to start packing, and she still had a lot to do. Times like this, it really did seem like she owned too many shoes. She'd assembled a box of things that she was leaving to the school. She picked up a box of books that she hardly ever read and walked down to the library with them.
She grinned when she saw Joe. "Hey, stranger."
