C. They knew each other, though not well and more in passing, from Xavier days, but when his post to the embassy ended, Simon found himself in London. They ran into each other by chance, and went for coffee just to catch up. They hit it off, and she managed to get through his defensive nature. Years later their son was born.

1. The hearing issue was caught early, so he learnt sign language (though he has no big issues speaking), as did the rest of the family, and has hearing aids on both ears (improvements over the years made them and his hearing better). But he's in a much better position than his father was due to earlier diagnosis and more supportive family.
2. Is an excellent trumpet player, has won awards and even a scholarship for it. It's one of the instruments that is easier for him to hear too.
3. Never went to Xaviers school (Except on visits with his mother) because he had a good handle on his power from the earliest days. Did grow up around excalibur though.
4. Has the ability to 'see' soundwaves if he chooses, and can interrupt or redirect them at his will. The seeing bit makes his trumpet playing easier.
5. Can't do ballet to save his life. Music is too quiet most of the time and he's moving too much for the seeing to be helpful. Not that he hadn't taken some of his mother's lessons early on. Man was that embarrassing.
