Brief Summary: It's hard to accurately judge Sarah's personality. She changes it every time she picks up a new job, becoming whoever she needs to be. Each time she flips over a new fake ID, she alters who she is just a tiny bit. Most of the time, those alterations stick. Once you act a certain way for so long, it becomes habit. No matter what name she attaches to her face, however, she is exceptionally lively, always looking for the humor in any situation. She actively tries to avoid becoming some sort of con-woman cliche. She's not dark or depressed or out for revenge. If anything, she's the exact opposite, always light and funny and looking for a good time. She'll flirt with anyone who comes her way, with enough charm and skill to have the stoutest playboy stuttering. More often than not, said flirting is a precursor to lifting their wallet. Rarely are her intentions honest. Anyone who believes a word that comes out of her mouth is setting themselves up for failure. Of course, she has made a few friends over the years, people who know who she really is. Those are the only people that she doesn't lie to on a regular basis. Overall, Sarah is a pleasant conversation waiting to happen (though it's advisable to check your pockets before she walks away). She's cheerful and friendly with anyone who comes her way.Sarah has a very even temperament. It's very, very difficult to offend her. Once she does get angry, her foul mood with only last a short while before she focuses her attention somewhere else. That doesn't mean that she's forgotten, however. Sarah can hold a grudge, all the while seeming to be completely friendly with the person that she's harboring ill will toward. If you piss her off, and she's all smiles about it, it's a good idea to watch your back...indefinitely. She's just waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.Deep down, she's got a whole lot more issues. It's rare for her to find something or someone that she can truly care for. Her line of work makes it almost impossible for her to trust anyone, especially after she was betrayed. Being at odds with her family hurts her more than she's ever let on, though that's gotten somewhat better now that Mary is back in her life. At times, this darker side is more visible (like when she's been drinking). Mostly, however, she buries it far, far away. She'd rather focus on the good things that she's got going for her. Being depressed is boring.
Brief Summary: Sarah Jameson was born into a content family. Her parents loved each other with that steady sort of love that lasts, even if it isn't terribly passionate. They provided a stable home for their children, all four of them. Constance had always wanted a large family, and she got her wish. The only thing she regretted was not being able to stay home with them. In order to support all of their kids, both Constance and Elton had to work full time. They went through numerous daycares and babysitters until Mary was old enough to do the watching, and Sarah was old enough to help. Regardless, the family remained close. They still had plenty of time for each other, and took every opportunity to do things together. It was great, for the most part, but Sarah never felt like she was anything special, neither the youngest, nor the oldest, nor the only male. She didn't stand out. When she was seventeen, that all changed. That was when she met Tom Priddy. Or at least, Tom Priddy was what he was going by then. Only three years older than her, he was full of charm, singling Sarah out from the beginning. There was just something about him that made her feel like she was doing something dangerous and exciting just by being with him. He swept her up, made her fall in love with him, then told her the truth. He was only in Boston to work a job, then he'd be on to the next town, the next job, and the next woman. That pissed her off to no end. Rather than telling him that, however, she put on her best sad girl face and asked him to explain exactly what he did. He did, not seeing any harm in it. But Sarah was a lot smarter than he'd ever given her credit for. She watched and learned, and when push came to shove, took every dime that he'd earned from his last job, then turned him over to the cops. It was, in her opinion, only fair. He'd broken her heart, so she'd taken compensation. A year later, at eighteen, she pulled off her first successful con on her own. It was remarkably easy. Nobody suspected a 'little girl' like herself to have such nefarious motives. Over the years, she picked up on a few other skills, turning to petty theft whenever there was nothing more interesting to do. She could pick pockets and locks with the best of them, and even tried her hand at credit card fraud for a year or so. Once she figured out the system, it was almost too simple to manipulate. Sarah met a few others over the years, scammers who had miles more experience than herself and were grudgingly willing to pass on a few tips and tricks to a pretty young thing like herself. She discovered early on that her looks and her charm could get her places that few others could go. So many people judged on appearance. All she had to do was show up in heels, and the job was halfway done.Sarah was twenty-two when her mother died. Even after she'd fallen in to her life of crime, they'd remained fairly close. Constance had always had a pretty good idea of what her daughter was up to, even if she'd never come out and said it. Sarah had been in New York when she got news of her mother's death. She'd been fairly deep in a job, greasing some wheels for a group of small time hustlers. When the call came, she bailed without much notice, taking off for Boston. Said hustlers were kind of pissed, and flipped on her. They gave over all her information on that job, and the past ones they knew about, to the local authorities, who managed to track her back home. In her grief, she hadn't been covering her tracks as well as she could have been. The police picked her up at the funeral. That hardened her to the world in a big way. Her father refused to acknowlege her existance, and her siblings followed his example. Once she got out of jail, Sarah didn't reform. She just got more careful. It was all a matter of being way more cautious about who you worked with, and who you worked for. By the time most young adults are graduating from college, she'd built up a small fortune, and was generally enjoying the hell out of life. She never had a set home again, going wherever her specific talents were needed. The lifestyle suited her, and she thrived. When she did settle down for a month or so, she did so in style. Nice cars, spacious apartments...she never went for less than the best.During that time, she found herself on the Island of Palms. There was at least one ripe job just waiting to be plucked up in the nearby town of Mt. Pleasant. She went through some old contacts, and they helped her get set up on one of a local companies top executives. But that wasn't quite enough. She'd needed more local intel. That was when one of her contacts pointed her to John Butler. Their partnership should have been a disaster. She thought he was too serious, he thought she was too annoying, yet they fell in to a groove that allowed them to work spectacularly together. After pulling off the job she'd come to town for, the two of them found more work. During her eight month stay, Sarah tried her damnedest to break him down, pushing all of his buttons in an attempt to get what she wanted. It didn't work, much to her disappointment. That is, until the night before she left. Even then, it was only because neither of them expected to see the other again, ever.In late 2008, Sarah was almost busted again, when the wealthy wife of a man she'd set her greedy sights on caught wind of their affair and made a loud ruckus about all the money that had gone missing in the past months. Rather than risk repeating her unfortunate stint in prison, she skipped town so fast that heads spun. That close call was enough to push her to taking an extended vacation. Her older sister had been in touch several times in the last few years, so Sarah went to her. Island of Palms wasn't exactly her idea of paradise, but it was certainly off the radar. She dug in, prepared to stay for at least a year or so. That would give anyone who may or may not have been looking for her a chance to get distracted. Small town life may have been quiet, but it was way better than rotting away in a cell. Turns out things were more interesting than she'd thought they'd be. After about a week, she looked up her old 'friend' John Butler. They picked up almost immediately where they'd left off, and after only a few months, they caught a plane to Vegas and got married. Despite her previous inability to care about anyone other than herself, Sarah settled in to marriage quite comfortably. Then there was the whole 'we've got super powers' nonsense. Her gifts are subtle enough, though, that she hardly notices them on a day-to-day basis. Things just go a little easier for her. Overall, she's amazingly happy, spending time with her new husband and picking up jobs whenever they come her way.
Influencing Events -- Sarah has the ability to subliminally and psionically initiate random telekinetic acts that affect probability in her favor by making improbable things to occur within her line of sight, thus causing her to have "good luck" and her victims to have "bad luck." The full extent of her powers is still unknown. This effect constantly emanates from her body at all times and is completely subconscious. However, it is also mostly participatory - in order for the luck to take effect, Sarah herself must engage in an action whose chance she can affect. For example, if debris falling from the sky was about to hit her in the head, she would still be hurt if she stood still. However, if she tried to avoid them, she would move perfectly to avoid each and every piece about to hit her. In addition if Sarah were to stand before a hail of bullets she would be a bullet-ridden corpse. Instead, she must take action; in attempting to avoid the gunfire, she will miraculously bob and weave just right to avoid every single shot. There are also events which Sarah has been known to subconsciously cause, however, but not take part in (such as other people winning the lottery, or shelves breaking). Her emotions play a big part during these times, affecting the probability of people and objects around her without her participation. She currently does not have any control over this.As a byproduct of her probability abilities, Sarah's cerebral cortex emits a current of bioelectric pulses down her spine to instinctively guide her movements during such situations, which has the added effect of augmenting her natural reflexes and agility to near-superhuman levels.Sarah can also consciously use her powers to manipulate a situation. She can focus on just one person, affecting only their “luck”. Currently, she must physically touch that person in order to tweak their probability. The effects can last anywhere between ten minutes and an hour, depending on her focus at the time. There is no outward physical evidence whenever she uses her powers.
