2012! What a year, amirite?! It was the year of Grumpy Cat, Ikea Monkey, ERMAHGERD, dog shaming, Lil' Bub, and Colonel Meow. It was also the year of The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers, of "Call Me Maybe" and "Gangnam Style," and the animals of the interwebs certainly celebrated those cultural events along with us.

We've put together some of our favorite memes, captions, stories, gifs, videos, and squee moments over here. Check it out, and then leave us a comment letting us know what your favorite animal moments of the year are.

Did we forget your favorite animal moment of the year? Let us know in the comments! If you provide links to your favorites, we will add them to our Best Animals of 2012 site!
