Awesomely. It happened awesomely.
1) Technically, neither of them actually asked the other out. Having an empath slam her book shut and shout "OH MY GOD, WILL THE TWO OF YOU JUST MAKE OUT ALREADY?!" in the middle of study hall turns out to be a handy way to circumvent that sort of thing while still getting the job done.
2) Within thirty seconds of the above-mentioned shouting, there was already a betting pool about how badly the date would go.
3) Most of the conversation portion of the date revolved around science, super-heroics, and their mutual inability to understand their peers.
4) The non-conversation portion of their date involved fighting crime. Because there's no way that their first date would not have been interrupted by crime. It also involved an explosion not caused by Penny, torn clothes, and one of the crooks peeing himself when he spotted Tyson.
5) Their first kiss was plastered all over the gossip rags and society pages, because in the heat of the moment they forgot that they were still in the middle of the street.
BONUS FACT:
6) Everyone who put money on them not having a second date got an email reading "SUCK IT" in sparkly pink letters, even though the betting pool was supposed to be anonymous.
