James and Laura were REALLY good for each other. I remember when we had the evil Lily, Paloma and I would talk a LOT about what-ifs and all that, like, I remember we had a plot about how James would've helped Laura get out of an engagement to some DE by proposing to her, even if it was fake, so like---if he wasn't so young when they dated, I'd say he would've told her that he loved her.
If Lily had gone off and married someone else, I think James could really have only ended up with Laura. This of course would be if Sirius hadn't dated her and she hadn't been set up with Orpheus, but James and Lily work because they're always sparking each other, and James and Laura was like, she was his calming factor which was really cool XD
Also why he can't really talk to her now, IC. He hates that she's actually turned into what he'd always tried to help her avoid ;[
