14. Working
"I'm really sorry about this."
Mark looked apologetically at Hannah, who was peeking past the curtain at the other patient in the room. Their date (their first date! Their first official date, anyway--) had been interrupted with an emergency call from St. Mungo's.
"What's wrong with him?" she asked, coming to Mark's side as he pulled out his wand. He opened his mouth to tell Hannah that the boy had swallowed the head of his sister's doll when he was---well, being mean, but the little boy pouted greatly up at the two, obviously embarrassed at his situation. Mark gave him a tight smile.
"Well, Joey here took on a dare, and followed through. The details are for men's ears only" Mark winked at the boy, who let go of his held breath. "I'm thinking you're a future Gryffindor, my friend."
Joey smiled, and then hiccuped loudly. Mark grinned, "Okay! Just keep that up and we should have ourselves---well, you know." Joey smiled weakly and continued to hiccup. Mark tugged Hannah's hand out of the room and rubbed the back of his head.
"Sorry, I've got to wait until he coughs up the--dare."
"You still won't tell me what he swallowed?"
"It's the man code, I can't embarrass him in front of a pretty girl!"
Hannah blushed, smirking slightly before she pushed forward and kissed Mark. He stood stunned when she pulled back, and a stupid grin slid onto his face.
