Nick Doge
He'd always been the oddball, in the family of oddballs. Nick didn't like to read, and he didn't like studying, and he didn't appreciate the stars in the sky or the delicate nuances of the world around him. He just didn't care. Sure, he liked his family, and the world he lived in, but if it wasn't sparking or making loud noises, he really didn't take much notice.

It shouldn't have been that surprising, him being sent to Gryffindor house. He had always dreamed of going to Hogwarts, but his dream turned into a nightmare as Snape and the Carrows had taken over the summer before his first year. Nick was forced to attend school with his brothers, and Hogwarts was forever changed. His remaining years at Hogwarts were decidedly boring, compared to his first. When his class finished their seventh year, there was a huge celebration by the wizarding community, seeing as it was a big triumph, to get those poor firsties from seven long years ago, out into the real world.

Nick didn't particularly want to head out to the real world, but he had no choice in the matter. One thing he could decide on, was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life, and as he laced up his boots for his first day of auror training, Nick suddenly felt like he belonged.

"Doge!"

His head shot up and he grinned, jogging over to his superior. Harry bleedin' Potter. Nick stood at attention, unable to surpress his smirk of enjoyment.

"Says here you come from a family of aurors," Auror Potter said. Nick nodded with resolution.

"Two of my uncles, sir! One died during the first war and the other recently retired."

"And you're Elphias' boy."

Nick faltered slightly; why would he know his father's name, in such a friendly manner? "Er---yes. He's just a librarian."

"And a former member of the Order of the Phoenix."

This took a second for Nick to comprehend, and his jaw dropped nearly to the floor in realization. His dad had---there was--huh? Auror Potter laughed and clapped his hand on Nick's shoulder, pushing hm out the door. "C'mon, let's see what you're made of."

A lot, apparently, Nick silently mused as he started toward the facilities.
