Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
open to hunter & wendell (trace, then ene, then me = the order :D )
The first night in the house, Julian had slept soundly because he'd simply been too exhausted. His imagination was unable to run rampant because his brain was much too tired, and the boy had just slept after Jacob had tucked him back into the bed with Miah. But tonight the nightmares came back and all he could see was Joshua being taken away from him and Miah mixed with images of other things that had happened to him. Not just when he was taken away from his mother, but things that had happned with her as well.

He woke up shaking and sniffling a little bit, having trained himself not to cry out too loudly because if he woke his mother up there would be hell to pay. Usually he could go to Joshua, but his brother wasn't there, and only Miah was tucked away at his side. He sat up and wiped at his cheeks as he looked around the little room and over at the other empty bed. He didn't see the need for two beds since he always wanted to be with Miah, afraid the boy would be taken away at any moment. He finally got out of the bed, his feet hitting the cool hardwood floor softly before he reached over and gently shook Miah awake.

"Miah," he whispered softly, "Miah, come on." His brother was sleepy, but he complied and Julian took a hold of his hand to lead him out of the room and across the hall into Hunter and Wendell's. He stood there at the end of the bed quietly, just holding onto Miah's hand as he waited for one of them to wake up and notice them.

For once Miah was sleeping fairly soundly. The little boy was sprawled out on the bed, limbs flung haphazardly around him even though Julian had been pressed right up against his side. He didn't move when Julian slipped out of the bed and it wasn't until he was being shaken awake that he realized anything was amiss. Slowly he came to, rubbing his eyes with a tiny fist. Instead of protesting he let Julian tug him out of the bed and then he took his brother's hand so that they could walk together down the small length of hall to Wendell and Hunter's room. Once at the foot of the bed he just yawned and waited, not really sure what they were doing just standing there while the other wolves slept.

Of course Hunter woke up first. The presence of the other wolves would have pulled him out of the deepest of sleeps. He sat up slowly and saw the two tiny boys standing at the end of the bed. There wasn't even a thought as he waved them over to his side and then picked them up one at a time to put them into the bed between himself and Wendell.

"Were you having a bad dream?" He asked quietly, not sure who was behind their coming into the bedroom.

Even though he was an edgy sort of person while he was awake, Wendell slept like the dead. Being next to Hunter put Wendell at ease and he felt utterly safe in the man's bed. Still, his body was tuned to the alpha and when Hunter spoke quietly, Wendell opened his eyes. Seeing that the boys were in bed with them made a warm feeling creep through his limbs. This was domestic bliss, and he hadn't realized how much he'd wanted this until it was in the middle of happening. "Sleeping with us?" He said drowsily, but it was clear how pleased this made him.

When Hunter woke up, Julian held onto Jeremiah's hand a little bit tighter, afraid that maybe they might get yelled at for being out of bed or for waking Hunter up. But when the man waved him over to his side of the bed, Julian had a memory of Joshua doing that sort of thing, so he just led Miah over to the older wolf. When Hunter picked Miah up and tucked him in between him and Wendell, and then Julian, Julian wrapped a tiny arm around his brother and put his thumb in his mouth. He was too old to be doing it, but he just hadn't grown out of it yet.

At Hunter's question he nodded his head a little bit, then he turned his big blue eyes over to look at Wendell. He finally took his thumb out of his mouth and rubbed at one of his eyes, yawning a little bit.

"Sometimes Joshua would let us sleep with him when we were scared," he whispered softly after a moment.

"The two of you may sleep in here when you are scared." Hunter told him. "It isn't a big deal." Hunter didn't want the little boys to feel like they couldn't come to them when they were scared. Turning over onto his side, he drew the blankets higher up so that he could cover the two little boy's up with his blankets. Leaning in, he pressed a kiss to the top of Julian's head and then to Jeremiah's. Once the boys were settled he laid his head back down and looked over them at Wendell. It was obvious that Wendell was slightly delighted with the idea of them sleeping in the same bed. He was glad that the boys meant so much to his mate already, because he knew that they were going to need a lot of people taking care of them here.

Wendell smiled at Hunter. He couldn't be happier and it really did show on his face. "I suppose this is another reason it's great the bed is so big," he said with a lilt of humor that he knew would go over the boys' heads. He combed his fingers through Julian's hair comfortingly and then Jeremiah's. "This is the safest spot in the house, plus I keep peppermints in the bedstand."

It really did feel like the safest spot in the house to Julian, which was exactly why he liked being there. He rolled a little closer to Hunter, curling right up to him and holding onto his shirt as he yawned sleepily. Being in a safe environment made him feel like he could be more affectionate and ask for things like food. Miah was still very shy, and Julian got the feeling that his brother wouldn't get use to the new place for a while still.

"Jacob made me a sandwhich last night," he said softly. "I wokeup and he was hungry and he came to get peanut butter for Kiney." Like Everett's name, he said Kinley's name wrong as well.

"Yeah? What kind of sandwich did he make you?" Hunter asked softly, keeping his voice down because he could see that Miah was already drifting off to sleep again. The little boy had been sleeping a lot since he had been there but Hunter just assumed that he needed it. If it kept on for too long he could worry but for now he was going to let the little boys get as much rest as they needed.

Wendell had been looking into childhood sleeping disorders and he knew that it was far more common to have a child not getting enough sleep as a result of trauma. As Jeremiah drifted off to sleep, Wendell put his hand on his chest, feeling his breathing and heartbeat. He wished he was psychic so he could really get inside the both of them and know for sure the kinds of things they'd been through. Then again, maybe he was glad he couldn't.

"Kinley's going to have a baby soon, did he tell you that? I'll bet you two can help us take care of him. He'll need big brothers." And playmates.

"Peanut butter and jelly, and he had one too, and he brought BunBun over today for us to look after," Julian said as he stretched his legs out and yawned. He rolled onto his back and looked over at Miah, always concious of checking on his little brother. It was like second nature to him by now. "He didn't tell me that, no. I remember when Miah was a baby. Joshua took care of him because our Dad was gone and our Mom was always tired. I helped sometimes."
