PROPERTIESENGLANDLeverer HouseHenley-on-Thames, Oxfordshirec. 1,700,000 Galleons / £8,500,000SIX BEDROOMS WITH EN SUITE BATHROOMS; 7,310 SQ FT (679 SQ M)It was neither grim nor old, but the house in which Druella and Cygnus had raised their daughters was appropriately grand. Bestowed on the couple as a wedding gift, it had been almost clinically immaculate in the beginning of their marriage, the gleam of the white marble floors only serving to emphasize how strange and empty it was. Now, some twenty-odd years later, the house was as much a home as it would ever be: the gardens had been played in, the shelves weighed down with the books both husband and wife preferred to most other company, and walls and niches dressed with the numerous items they agreed were tasteful conversation pieces. All was kept orderly by the house-elves, commanded by Druella, whose quietly assertive manner in such matters meant that Cygnus did not have to raise a finger in the running of his household. FRANCEFrom Druella's dowryCharente, Poitou Charentesc. 282,520 Galleons / € 2,085,00014 BEDROOMS, 11 BATHROOMS; 1000 SQ M HOUSE; 850,000 SQ M LANDManor House on 85 ha with large private lake. Beautiful country home, approached from a 400 meter tree-lined driveway, set on a peninsula surrounded on three sides by water and its own 10 hectare lake. Therefore lake views are enjoyed by all but a few rooms in the property. Set on a total of almost 85 hectares of land, the property is secluded and quiet yet only 10 minutes from the local shops. The house has been renovated to a very high standard and is in stunning condition. Ground floor: The manor comprises a marble floored entrance hall, a grand dining room which has marble flooring and a large fireplace, a reception room that has beautiful wood paneled walls, marbled fireplace and flooring and has large French windows which open onto the terrace providing a wonderful view of the lake, a sitting room with magnificent oak beams and another big fireplace, a large kitchen, fully equipped, that opens onto the front garden and also onto the terrace overlooking the beautiful 10 hectare lake. First floor: 12 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The domain also includes a tastefully decorated staff house with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a large open-plan living/dining area and kitchen, with underfloor heating and wonderful views of the lake. In addition there are large barns with mezzanine flooring, a large garage and washroom, a 20 m swimming pool, a tennis court and a petanque court. (Moulin.nl) OTHER BLACK HOMESNumber 12Grimmauld Place, LondonNumber 12, Grimmauld Place is a Georgian terraced house (Number 12, having at least 5 floors, was probably built in the 18th century for the newly formed middle classes), situated on a run-down square in Muggle London: due to its closeness to King's Cross railway station, it is likely to be in an older district of London. The house is described by Harry as "eerie, cobwebbed". Alternatively, it may be in an area swallowed by Greater London in the 19th century. It is therefore likely to have been purchased (possibly by leasehold) from the Muggle authorities in that period. Such housing was, at the period of building, desirable; much of it today is now decrepit. (Wikipedia.)
