SIGMUND: Sigmund was on good terms with shifters everywhere. He knew that diplomacy these days was the true key to protecting his wolves, and not only did he have communication with other packs, but with other species. So while it was surprising when he received an international call from South Africa, he was ready to deal with it. At the moment, he was waiting for Pirate to arrive with Trevor, their newest resident. When Pirate's car drove up the driveway, Sigmund went outside eagerly.
TREVOR: When the war broke out between the prides, trevor had been ready and eager to help his pride. But after getting jumped by two members of the neighboring clan, his parents decided it was too great a risk and they sent Trevor stateside to live with one of the few allies they had there. The flight was excruciating for Trevor, twelve hours or more on a plane full of people, then the rush through the airport to baggage and waiting with all the people all over him. When he got to the car he knew he still had a ways to travel but a three hour drive was nothing and he slept most of the way with his head tucked against the window. When they finally got to the house in Providence he was awake but sort of groggy. Sliding out of the car, he stretched and just looked around.
SIGMUND: "You're the least talkative charge I've ever had." Pirate grumbled, and it couldn't be determined if he was annoyed by it, or relieved. "So there he is, Lion King, Sigmund. I'll be in the house." Pi left, popping up the stairs, past Sigmund with not much more than a respectful nod. Sigmund looked excited to meet Trevor. "Hey." He didn't expect the same kind of reception he would from a new wolf. "How was your flight?"
TREVOR: "It was a rough flight." He said softly, shaking his head a little bit as he brought his hand up to rub it along the back of his neck. "It was very long." he'd never flown before either and it had been incredibly uncomfortable.
SIGMUND: Sigmund looked him over kindly. "Your room is ready, everyone knows you're here. I hope Pirate didn't scare you off too much, not many of us are quite as--grouchy as he is."
TREVOR: "I fell asleep on the drive back so I didn't really talk to him at all." He stretched his arms again and then got his bag from the car so he could take it inside. "I need to run and then maybe sleep, if that is all right with you.":
SIGMUND: He was unabashadly staring at Trevor, trying to learn his body language. Moving toward him to help him with his bag, Sigmund took the opportunity to breathe in Trevor's scent. "Yes, that's fine. Did you want someone to run with you?"
TREVOR: "it doesn't matter." Honestly, he wasn't sure how he was going to enjoy running around here. Usually he ran in really open areas without cover of trees or anything like that. And it was never much running as much as it was lounging or laying in the sun. "Where should I put my bag?"
SIGMUND: Sigmund's excitement was rapidly being sucked out by the kid's blase responses, but he knew it was going to be hard. No one wanted to be sent away from their family. "Come upstairs, put your bag in your room and then we can go out back so you can shift."
TREVOR: Trevor juts didn't feel well and he was anxious. This place was nothing like home. It was so... cold here. He carried his bag with him into the house and he put it where Sigmund showed him to. He was really exhausted but he knew that he needed to run or he'd never rest well.
SIGMUND: Sigmund led him downstairs and out to the backyard. He knew the landscape here wasn't going to be anything like where Trevor was accustomed. "I'll go with you," he decided out loud, because it would be safer. Walking down the path to the ravine and the wooded areas below before turning and spreading out his hands. "Here? If you want privacy, there is brush just behind you."
TREVOR: Looking over his shoulder, he nodded and then turned to go off into the brush. He shed his clothes and folded them before shifting. It didn't take much effort or time and before long there was a large lion stepping out of the brush. Trevor wasn't even twenty yet, had only been shifting a few years, so he didn't have a full mane, though he was getting there.
SIGMUND: Sigmund had taken a chance and stayed a human so that he could really see Trevor's form. He'd seen lions at zoos, but there was something entirely different about seeing one larger than life in front of him. Tugging his clothes off finally, he didn't bother hiding the shift. It was smooth for him even if it was still excrutiating. He hid it very well and before too long, a large mottled wolf padded up to the lion, unafraid to offer comfort and touch. He touched his shoulder to the gold fur and licked briefly at the rounded ear.
TREVOR: Wiggling his ear a little bit, he shook out the half of his mane that had grown in and he swished his tail back and forth. He was kind of laid back in this form. Turning his head to the side, he drug his thick, sandpapery tongue against the side of Sigmund's head.
SIGMUND: It felt good and Sigmund turned his nose to bury it appreciatively in Trevor's fur. Even in this form he wanted to make him feel welcome, but there was a need to dominate too. Moving his chin so that it was over Trevor's shoulders he put his front paws up, laying his upper half sideways across the lion's back. It was a physical putting himself over Trevor, but still in a protective mannet. Hopping the rest of the way over him, he ended up on the other side and kept his body close.
TREVOR: The jumping over him was sort of startling and it made Trevor sort of sink to the side, turning his head to look at Sigmund. He wasn't afraid of the werewolf but he wasn't going to get close to him if he was going to be doing strange things. The lions had other customs for showing dominance and so he didn't quite understand what Sigmund wanted.
SIGMUND: Sigmund didn't mind the slinking, he simply observed and tried to learn about Trevor. Trotting forward, he turned to look back at the lion, waiting and wagging his tail. The other would have to lead here, but Sigmund's paws ached to run.
TREVOR: Stretching his long body out, he just looked at Sigmund. There was not going to be a run unless he saw something to chase and usually that only happened when it was another lion he was interested in or something he could eat.
SIGMUND: Sigmund let out a doggy sigh through his nose, saying with his whole body that lions were boring, and no fun at all. Loping a circle around the beast, he took off, diving into the underbrush for a good jog, remaining in the area in case Trevor needed him.
TREVOR: Trevor started after him at a slow trot but he didn't run. Not until he caught a flash of white tail and saw the deer. It was leaned over the stream, drinking from it and Trevor instantly went into predator mode. His body hunched down and he started to creep forward to get closer.
SIGMUND: Sigmund had smelled it before he saw it, and his paws started moving silently. Having enough human curiosity to fall back and watch, Sigmund didn't make the first move.
TREVOR: Inch by inch he moved forward until he was so close to the deer that he could have almost tasted it. Then when he was sure that he could get it, Trevor pounced. With all the grace one would expect from a big cat he took the deer down to the ground, claws sunk in to it's side as he went to close his jaws around it.
SIGMUND: It was exciting and Sigmund got low to the ground, a shiver running across his skin and making his fur tremble with the smell of blood. Finally standing up, he came closer, the deer lying still now.
TREVOR: The kill had been savage but it had been almost like an art. He'd taken the deer down with relative ease, used to hunting big game back home. He licked his short muzzle and lifted his head to glance over at Sigmund, offering up the first bite.
SIGMUND: Putting his nose close to Trevor's he licked the rest of the blood from his jaws, then snorted appreciatively. He wasn't hungry, and the fact that Trevor had offered was satisfying enough to him. Flopping down onto the grass, he let the lion have at the kill.
TREVOR: Lower his head down, he tore into the deer. Trevor was starving from the long flight and drive. They had hardly fed him anything edible on the plane and he really needed to fill his belly before he went back to the house for a nap. He ate his fill of the deer, which was a good portion of it and then he went to the stream to have a little water.
SIGMUND: Sigmund rolled onto his side, relaxing calmly and letting his tail thump pleasantly on the ground. He'd gotten a bit of a run, and that would tide him over for awhile if the opportunity didn't present itself for awhile.
TREVOR: Coming over to where Sigmund was, Trevor just sprawled out beside him, his head resting on top of the wolf's body. There was no one in the world that could lounge like Trevor could and he was about to show that ability off.
SIGMUND: It was an odd feeling, but a good one. All in all, he supposed, werecreatures were werecreatures. The rhythm of his breathing was steady and he drifted off beneath the cat.
TREVOR: It didn't take long for Trevor to fall asleep, but the big cat could and would sleep anywhere. When he finally woke he'd shifted back into his human form and he was completely nude and a little disoriented.
SIGMUND: Sigmund had woken up before him and was dressed already. "Ready to head back inside?" He spoke quietly from a little ways off, knees hitched up as he rested his elbows on them.
TREVOR: Trevor turned over and he rubbed his eyes as he sat up. He groaned and then yawned before moving to stand. There was not an inch of him that was ashamed of his nudity.
SIGMUND: Sigmund wasn't bothered by it, keeping his eyes on Trevor's face because that's what was interesting to him right now. "Come on," he stood up as well, gesturing for Trevor to follow him up to the house. He'd already picked up the neatly folded clothes.
TREVOR: Trevor walked to him and took his clothes so that he could slide his pants on. Once they were on he didnt' bother with anything else and he just carried his clothes back to the house
SIGMUND: "You're very handsome, as far as lions go. I suppose I haven't seen all that many. But the fur is really amazing." Thick, dense, and utterly sleek. He led them upstairs to Trevor's room. "You're next to Pirate. He's very quiet."
TREVOR: "All right. Thank you. Thank you for having me here." Because he was glad that he had somewhere safe to be, even if he really just wanted to be in Africa with his family. "You have a very nice home."
SIGMUND: "It's your home for awhile too now." He was sure to mention. Motioning down the hall, he let Trevor know where the closest bathroom was. "Feel free to explore, or ask questions."
TREVOR: "Thanks." Trevor said with a smile. "I think I am going to sleep for a while. I will come and find you when I wake up? If you have any questions or want to talk."
SIGMUND: Smiling, Sigmund nodded. "All right. That's a fine plan." While he couldn't think of any questions that he wouldn't rather learn through everyday interactions, he still wanted to keep the lines of communication open.
TREVOR: Trevor gave him a nod and then went into the bedroom so that he could lay down on the bed. He sprawled out on top of the covers and just passed right out.
