This caused Dolemeck's face to light up as red as the apple at Citi Field. His head lowered, enough so his face was covered by his hair.
"So you heard I ran out of the Library like a jack rabbit? I was hoping no one would hear about that. I... I just..." He started to stammer. If he could curl up into a ball, he would have by now. "She's nice, and I am too scared to talk to her. I do not wish to lie to her about what I am, but I fear her reaction as well."
Dolemeck's shoulders slumped even more. "I also... I do not know what to do. I know nothing about a human friendship, Derek. What if she asked me on some... "date". I would not know what to do, despite my book knowledge! It is best that, I be alone with my books."
Suddenly, he changed the subject. Dolemeck sat once more with his back straight and a small smile on his face. Derek could tell he was trying to avoid the subject of the pretty librarian.
"So! Tell me of this wheat! Does this mean it could stop the threat of world hunger? How does it taste? can we make soba noodles out of it?"
