NICK NAMES: Lise, Lili, Queen Guðbjörg the Fearsome
AGE: Seventeen
BIRTHDAY: February 14, 1980
HOUSE: Ravenclaw
RESIDENCE: York, Yorkshire, England
SEXUALITY: Heterosexualish

personality

GENERAL: Coming on the heels of a sister who is nothing if not fierce, Lisa has an easy-breezy sort of attitude when it comes to life, and lets things roll off her shoulder rather than fret over them. Generally good humoured, though she has fits of sourness, she is friendly and authoratatively quiet, as if always watching from something of a distance. Being of a happy disposition, she makes friends easily, though some are put of by her sarcasm (or, more likely than not, the more biting sarcasm of her best friend). The exterior she shows is generally a goofy, slightly odd one and she tends to shy away from a lot of attention. That said, she is by no means afraid of people or speaking up, and enjoys entertaining people with an especially sardonic sense of humour.

Extremely creative, with a diverse set of interests, Lisa is thirsty for knowledge without being obsessive when it comes to her studies. She excels academically if genuinely interested in a subject, but is not the sort of person who can really bring herself to pay attention to that which bores. With a panache for history, especially the blood-and-gore variety, she is always in the middle of a big, fat book filled with dates and battle descriptions. This plays well to the role of observer she tends to take; decidedly neutral on most matters, Lisa enjoys standing back and strategizing, trying to guess the next move and trying to delve into the minds of the key players. She finds the heroism of Harry Potter trying and a bit disappointingly unglamorous for her tastes. Despite this, she thinks the Pureblood elitism that is running as rampant as hormones about school a "crock of shit", quite frankly.

In contrast to this harder edge, Lisa has a deliberating, even searching soul, which is constantly chewing on a Big Question. Unlike some her age, she doesn't stress over them (them being love, death, the meanings in life, etc), rather, she enjoys trying to logically work through them. More often than not, this comes out in her music, which tends to exhibit her dueling perspectives rather than answering anything definitively. Love, for Lisa, is one of the biggest gray areas of life. Having the burden of the "man curse" on her shoulders makes her wonder if it's all really worth it, if it's all really true, and if it all really means anything, in the end.

On the wilder side, Lisa is not afraid of letting loose every now and then and, true to her artistic, bohemian nature, enjoys vodka and cigarettes on occasion, along with copious amounts of caffeine. Loud music and flailing dance moves are a specialty of Lisa's, and she likes nothing more than a good concert outside somewhere with her best mate. Other hobbies include horseback riding, reading, dressing up (still) and doing her best to achieve some colour in her pale skin. Active without being a ball of energy, she's still known to run about the fields of her home or to play a fierce game of Vikings with Anthony (and Anne, if they're feeling generous). The Vikings of York hold an especial interest for Lisa, who works part-time at the local museum during her summer vacation.

socially

GENERAL: Lisa, being generally fun-loving and fairly easy to please, tends to put herself in social situations that don't cause a lot of tension or headaches. Up until this point in her life, the path of least resistance has been boys; girls tend to get clingy and catty and she doesn't know she has the stamina to put up with it. For the few people she truly cares about, Lisa is a rock: an apt listener, a sturdy shoulder to cry on, and a voice filled with confident reason. Willingly, she fills the role of the go-to girl, though her advice is only pragmatic and logical and rarely from personal experience. Being aware (and proud) of her femininity, she does not shy away from compliments or teasing but, perhaps guiltily, plays along.

appearance

FACIALLY: With her fleshed-out, freckled face and large brown eyes, Lisa has a sweet-looking, almost innocent face, marked with an unusual nose and a pert, pointed pair of lips. There is something almost elven in her appearance, which might be more apparent was she not full-faced; ten pounds lighter, and Lisa might appear an imp of sorts. Despite attempts at tanning away her pale skin, Lisa remains decidedly white, a fact that makes the dusting of freckles over her nose ever more apparent. Her brown hair, of an undescript shade, is wonderfully manageable, though she chooses to wear it, in true Bohemian style, as it is: thick, a bit fluffy, but always well suited to her face. It fluctuates from shoulder-length to falling down her back and has a curl to it. More often than not, Lisa pulls it off her face or braids it up and pins it back.

BODY: Having a generally good appetite, Lisa is not what might be considered thin, certainly not waifish. Her body is, in a word, fleshy. Preffering her curves, which she personally finds quite fascinating having only developed them the summer past, she doesn't stress too much about weight; she looks toned without appearing muscly. At a humble 5'5, the shape of her body matched with her height and face gives her an overall appearance of softness. Gentle, sloping lines with very little rigidity.

STYLE: Fashion appeals to Lisa's creative sensibilities, and so she enjoys perusing second-hand thrift shops whenever possible and especially when she's in London. A bit of an ecclectic, even eccentric dresser, she has leanings towards 60's fashion, perferring short, even audacious sundresses to restrictive trousers and the like. Eyelets, cotton, soft, flowy materials all have a place in Lisa's wardrobe, though she's not opposed to the occasional jeans-and-tee. As to feet, she absolutely detests socks and closed-toed shoes in general, the exception being her trademark cowboy boots. Sandals, when possible, or barefeet. When it comes to what she puts on her body, Lisa's likes to feel as free as possible.

family

GENERAL: Brought into a house that was large, a bit delapitated and rambling, Lisa has had a very happy family life. The middle of three girls, both of Lisa's parents wanted to instill in their daughters a sense of oneness, of happiness and freedom. When Lisa's father disappeared a few weeks following her ninth birthday (an event the family had come to expect, as the Turpin women had for centuries suffered a particularly nasty man-curse), The Grandmother Turpin swept in to care for her daughters and granddaughters, and a new family was born. Picking up the pieces and moving on, they remain tight-knit, if eccentric, and wildly entertaining.

EVELYN KATE TURPIN is a somewhat forgetful, entertaining sort of person. With a flair for the dramatics, she tends to take up a lot of space in the house and certainly is the source of Lisa's sense of humour. Eccentric, unabashed and moral, Eve is a very loving, nurturing, but somewhat unconventional mother. Unafraid of displaying affection, she makes up for her own lack of physical attention from her parents by smothering her daughters (and Anthony) with hugs and kisses. Despite all that, she has a serious, professional side, which comes in use when she is working for the Ministry in the International Relations Department. Having recently acquired a new beau, Evelyn is attempting to bring him into her old, rambling house without scaring away her girls. With no belief in withholding the truth, she can be very frank and blunt with her daughters and lets them run free rather than keeping them closely guarded; sex, war, politics: none of these are taboo in the Turpin household.

JOAN MARGARET TURPIN generally enjoys "taking it to the next level" as her mother dubiously calls it. She is extremely aware of her mother's compelling need to share their feelings with one another, and tends to use it to her advantage when she feels she isn't getting what she wants. Joan is a power-house of emotional turmoil who enjoys creating drama within the Turpin household. Despite being seemingly polar opposites, she is Lisa's biggest ally and the confidante that she could never bear to be without. Flirty, flighty and prone to fits of crying and screeching, Joan is the life of the party with a vicious streak that makes people wary to cross her.

ANNE CATHERINE TURPIN finds being the baby of the family a rather difficult task; unlike her older sisters, free spirits that they are, Anne enjoys to put on the appearances of order. In truth, she is just as odd and eccentric as they are, made all the more endearing by her heavy lisp which has persisted these eleven years. A first year, sorted of course into Ravenclaw, Anne is a bit dreamy and soft spoken with a sturdy opinion for someone of eleven. Extremely innocent and very naive, she comes off as very young, even for her age. Despite that, her temperment seems to be in stark conflict with Joan's and the two fight like cats and dogs, leaving Lisa to mediate and, in some cases, act as Anne's advocate and protector.

THE GRANDMOTHER is an authority in the Turpin Manor, with periods of great distance and then overwhelming warmth. She can more often than not be found practise tai-chi in the back garden which she tends to daily, yet she has a decidedly traditional view when it comes to convention, manners and the way things ought to be done. Somehow, however, she manages to be very open with the girls and encourages open dissidance, rebellion and debate. Odd, with a hard edge, she's sometimes difficult for her grandaughters to place, and it's difficult for them to know when to fear her and when to worship her.

astrology

AQUARIUS: The stereotypical geeks of the magical world, Ravenclaw Aquarians are noted mostly for their genius. They are gifted theorists and inventors, and highly talented students. Most wind up doing pure research after graduating from Hogwarts. Their noses are always in books of esoteric lore. Some people may laugh at them, either for their unconventional lifestyles or (more commonly) because they are obvious nerds, but they don't care. While they can have sharp tempers, especially when they encounter ignorance or stupidity, these wizards generally mean well, and have a "live and let live" philosophy. Their wit is legendary; not everybody gets the Ravenclaw Aquarian's jokes, but those who are subtle and intelligent enough find conversation with an Aquarian Ravenclaw to be quite funny, in a satirical and ironic and irreverent sort of way.
