Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
So, I've just realized that I have been here for roughly 2/3 of the year. Which meant needing a small, personal celebration of sorts for finally being comfortable with flooing and knowing my way around and not being a general bother to those around me. So, caramel apple cupcakes. Sounds completely crazy, but they're actually quite good. Then again, the baker at the new shop I've found is full of creativity so maybe that's a big part of it.

Let's see...Norway is going well, just had a three day trip to pop in and check how the on site manager is doing with things and the reports are stellar. Should be due to head back there for a week at the end of the month. I've heard discussions of Egypt at work, so I have a feeling that's the next destination on the list. Not sure what all is to be had there, given how extensively we've worked the place, but who knows.

I'm also happy to report that Grundhook no longer glares at me during the day and we've found a mutual enjoyment of discussing turn of the century events and comparing our points of view on history and how different societies and species learn such things.

Egypt! Where are you hearing these Egypt rumors? I haven't been to Egypt in ages!

Also, Grundhook is a sneaky bastard with too large of a nose.

It's been going around the research department. I guess they're hoping to find some new leads and if it ends up being fruitful they'll put together a team.

Well, he is but I really shouldn't
It's taken me eight months to finally wear him down to a civil conversation...but I will give you that he can be a bit on the sneaky side, eh?

Sweet Merlin I will have to get my name in there.

What a marvelously retched little goblin. Did I tell you that he has started poking my knees? Something about not paying enough attention when he talks?

I'm just crossing my fingers that there'll be a need for a mythology specialist! You've got the benefit of transferable skills no matter the locale. Which, I know what your response was last time I suggested it, but Scandinavia is really fantastic in the summer...and the ruins, oh you should see them, Larkin!

No, you didn't! He's been throwing erasers at me to get my attention if I'm in the middle of something. Really annoying habit, actually.

That's right, England is as cold as I get. I may be persuaded for a short visit, however, purely non vocational.

Really, t's like he's asking me to fool with him sometimes.

I know. I'm just selfishly trying to set up my region with the best of the best here. But you should come for a visit, just to see everything. It's very different than Egypt or Greece. But in a good way!

I guess I should be grateful for the erasers then, eh? Better than him trying to--to make a pass at me.

Alright then! Next time I vacation I will make sure to make a stop in the Scandinavia area... but only if you are there!

MERLIN yes, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little from that image.

Good! That's what I like to hear.

I'd suggest you file a complaint over it, but I have a feeling it wouldn't do much good.

Tsk, slandering a poor goblin's reputation for only trying to take your billywig-like attention span to task...

Oh, Nicodemo, be nice. Though it was mean of her to say he's got a large nose--it's really average compared to the other goblins, I think

And I don't think you have any say in the matter, anyway...I don't see any of the goblins hitting on you!

That is a lie. The one with an extra finger, he always tells me how saddened he is by the loss of my enviable tresses when I remember what normal people look like and get it trimmed.

Well, I mean. If you were unable to grow an impressive head of hair, wouldn't you be jealous of those around you who could and then chopped it all off unexpectedly?

I will concede that is a valid point, but he needn't stroke it as he does so.

We really need to convince management that we need an unbiased HR department, don't we?

I regret nothing and neither does he. Our relationship is that of love-hate, minus the love.

All things considered, my working relationship with him could be much, much worse. Poor Larkin... He's been much better about not being so rude as of late though, which is always good.

There's always goodies to be found in Egypt. If your stuffy goblins won't see fit to put me on their team, I'm afraid I may just have to gatecrash.

I don't even know if I'll be on the team! Unless they find something mythological related, I'm not much good on site. The whole trip really is speculation at this point.

If you're looking for a placement, I could use someone of your expertise in Norway. That's about all I've got at the moment.
