So. It appears that while voicing of opinion is generally a
good thing at the Daily Prophet, there are a few exceptions that they are willing to make exception for. We live in a country that generally provides less restraints in terms of freedom of expression, and despite the undeniable truth that we are
all equal on a human level, the freedom of press is being denied of me at work. So. I suppose I'll just have to find a means of publication myself.
Article is spellotaped into her journalIn his "Two Treaties of Government," John Locke, a "muggle" political philosopher, argued that when we become members of a society--any society, really--we place trust in our government. That government has the responsibility to protect us in a
just manner. There are certain rights and freedoms that cannot be denied. But when a government no longer serves its purpose, to protect its constituents in a just manner, its citizens have the right to overthrow.
Now, I'm not saying we all go and reveal ourselves to the unsuspecting muggles that surround us and create anarchy in response to the legislation. The consequences of such actions are unfathomable and are in no way endorsed by this writer. But, I do have to say that the M.A.G.I.C. Act, instated on this seventeenth day of August, nineteen and seventy-nine, are in violation of the rights and
safety of a majority of the Ministry of Magic's constituents. Many fine, upstanding citizens of the wizarding world face a bleak future--one without income, without rights, without peace of mind.
The rumors of death eaters have only grown more as a result, and by placing a brand on each and every muggleborn citizen, we are guaranteeing that he or she will die. By placing a highly visible symbol of one's heritage--a
permanent brand--the Ministry of Magic is guaranteeing that muggleborns will be seen, and they will be "taken care of." And it will not be through protective restraints. It will not be through higher levels of security. It will be at the end of a wand, in a flash of green, without any chance for safety. It will be at the hands of these "death eaters." Instead of protecting its most vulnerable citizens in a proper way, the Ministry of Magic is lining them up like sheep to the slaughter house.
Never forget that we can do something. We can fight for the undeniable freedoms of nature with which we were born. Ones parentage does not make one less human, or less of a witch or wizard. And anyone who disagrees is the true enemy.
Any government that rules without the consent of the people can be overthrown. Never forget this.
