It is an object of the invention to design a twin screw extruder so that it will deliver the melt at a temperature and viscosity largely uniform over the entire cross section area, to a closed tool. According to the invention the twin screw extruder is designed with an extruder housing having a dual cylinder shaped internal cross section. Two extruder screws are located in the housing configured to be driven in opposing directions. The screw turns and screw lands of the extruder screws and transport an extrusion material to an extruder outlet or a molding tool attached to the extruder. During transport the material is heated and plasticized.
An aromatic polycarbonate obtained by polymerization is generally kneaded with various components using an intermeshing twin screw extruder manufacturer. In this kneading step, the coloration, crosslinking and gelation of the aromatic polycarbonate occur, and the content of foreign matter contained in the aromatic polycarbonate increases, thereby exerting a great influence upon the quality of a final product.
Sarkar’s work on the project was part of a successful thesis project entitled “Peach Pomace Utilization Using Twin Screw Extrusion Processing. ” Sarkar earned admission to Purdue University, where he is pursuing his doctorate in nanoscience.
The term "agitation element" means a screw segment having a specific shape for the purpose of stirring, kneading and transferring a resin according to the function and purpose of the segment of a twin screw extruder, such as a back kneading segment, forward kneading segment or neutral kneading segment which will be described hereinafter.
The "material seal unit" means an agitation element of a twin screw extruder, which is installed to enable an upstream portion and a downstream portion thereof to take different operation pressures. It means an agitation element including a portion whose space is substantially completely filled with the resin to be kneaded when the section of the extruder is seen, and the sealing ring unit or the back flight unit can be the material seal unit.
