Izuna Uchiha [Part 04]
If he could have got there sooner, this might not have happened. They could have ran away and left it all behind, and there was nothing that Izuna could do to make it right for him. Just has Madara had been there for him through his younger days, Izuna was there for him now, being strong, being there for him. But that was not going to be enough. There was a particular object that they had to get their hands on to make all of it go away and together, they had to devise a plan.

Since he wasn't allowed to be there on campus with him, Izuna had to hide out most of the day, thinking up ways to sneak in and get back the evidence against Madara from that night. A few ideas were tossed around and refined, a bit of investigation to find the best way to go about it and then the final plan was initiated. They should have destroyed the tape as soon as they got it, left under his brother's guard where he expected him to do it. A memory like that wasn't something that you would want to keep around. He was going to offer to do it for him but his own absence finally went noticed. A note saying you had gone away for a school camping trip wasn't exactly going to work for too long when your school didn't have camping trips, taking longer than he thought but he hoped that it might have been his father who would come storming to the school to collect him. He was not at all that lucky. Just another hired help took him back, an voicemail message left for him to replay when they got him back was from him though, reminding him the importance of Madara being there and that if he tried to do anything like that again, then all communication would be severed. That kept him in his place, quietly sinking into the background again, making sure he didn't cause any more trouble for the family. It was only a short while to wait until Madara graduated anyway.

Things didn't get any better.

Many nights he would go into his brother's room and not find him there, staying up worried that something had happened to him when calls went unanswered, only to see him crawling into bed in the early hours of the morning. At first, he thought that he had a girlfriend that wouldn't be approved by the family. Late nights were just the beginning, next finding him with his face in the toilet almost at the brink of passing out. Night after night this repeated, Izuna spending many of them close to Madara's side rubbing his back while he got rid of the poisons in his system while multitasking with his books over on the other side on the ground so he could catch up on study. Whenever someone became suspicious, he was there to quickly make up a white lie to his older brother's whereabouts. Work played off as a good one, pulling overtime. It was only going to be a matter of time before someone checked up on the stories and found out they were fake. By this point, Izuna was getting pretty good at lying. He could have kept it going on forever if needed, but that was not going to be necessary.

When you hear that your parents have been killed by pirates, what would your first reaction be? Laugh? Poke fun at the weak jokes made? Just huff and brush it off? Izuna was more than prepared to do one of those things until it was confirmed to be the truth. Pirates had killed their parents. Everything moved so quickly from that point, nothing seemed real at all, remembering standing in front of their coffins as they were lowered into the ground. They were not ever going to win any awards for their parenting skills, not the most affectionate people in the world. Izuna couldn't even remember their faces clearly from the minimal time he had spent them with but he was still their child, they were still his parents. As much as he wanted to stand up and show them as they were put to rest that he was strong, the tears still came. Madara was the only one he had left now.
