Hinata App~ [3]
The details of how Hinata was released back safely to her family was never revealed, and Hiashi has yet to ever speak of the experience again. So, he moved his family to America where he could open more hospitals in peace, and hopefully keep his family safe when they started anew. Hinata was home schooled, enrolled into karate and self defense, and at her pleading, ballet. She had a hard time grasping English, but the classes slowly helped her improve it, even though she was teased mercilessly for not speaking English flawlessly. Nervous about being criticized for her speech, she resorted to not speaking, and if she had to, she tended to stutter. And stutter rather horribly. It was also around this time that her younger, and much more capable of being an heir, sister Hanabi was born. Hinata was shuttled off to the side, and when she was acknowledged at all, it was mostly to compare her to her sister, who displayed all the traits a Hyuga should have, and to perfection. Hinata watched almost helplessly as her sister usurped her spot, and while some children might have gotten angry, Hinata accepted the defeat almost quietly. It was her fault, after all. She wasn’t good enough, so at least it was fortunate her sister was.
Instead of fighting against her family’s unspoken decision, Hinata instead became introverted. She continued to learn, earning grades that were decent by the Hyuga standards, so they were unworthy of praise. She continued to take ballet, though won no recognition, therefore her parents did not notice her commitment enough to comment. She took up learning how to be the perfect wife, since it seemed she would not be heir and the best she could do was marry well. She cooked well, but they already had chefs for such things, and her meals were sub-par compared to professionals. It seemed that no matter what avenue she tried, she was thwarted. Trapped and helplessly at a loss as to what to do with herself, Hinata continued on almost blindly, not sure what to do with herself and where she fit in with her own family.
She probably would have continued on in this miserable fashion had she not overheard her father talking to one of her tutors. Her tutor was encouraging her father to let Hinata out more, and that perhaps she would find somewhere to blossom if she was allowed to choose her own courses. Her father, perhaps in an effort to be kind, said that he didn’t care what Hinata did, as she was useless to them and there was nothing she could do to prove herself worthy of her name. It was as if all the bonds keeping her to the house broke, and in that one moment of horrified hurt, that Hinata decided that she would make herself worthy. And if she failed in that, she would do her family a favor by changing her name and disappearing.
