Uchiha Itachi [Part 03]
After they had left with the guarantee that they would return in a couple of days for their decision, he overheard his parents talking about what they were going to do. There was doubts there but then came in the point where they wanted to assure that their boys would have a good future. Itachi did not want to believe this. He burst into the room and yelled at them for even considering it, the first and only time that his temper had been flared towards them or anyone else. Family is supposed to stick together no matter what. They are to see each other through the good times and bad, be the pillar of support for one another and never let anything get them down. They told him that he was too young to understand it, that they had shielded them from most of the hurt and suffering and they couldn't take them down with them when there was opportunities for them to strive. They could tell that Itachi was a gifted child, now he would have the chance to flourish and obtain everything he always dreamt about.
And that was it. They said their goodbyes to each other. Itachi's didn't. That day, he felt a part of his die inside of him. Too bad that it was only the first of it.
They had acted kindly enough towards them on the way over, given new clothes, a good cooked meal and all the bells and whistles welcoming them into the new family they had created. Itachi still did not have any trust for them at all so whenever they came close to his brother, he would cling and pull him away, permanently attached at the hip making sure that he was safe. Maybe that is why they took the plan of action they did, for what they had planned for them both was not going to allow an overprotective brother in the mix of it all. It was a hard pry to get the two of them released from each other, caught out after they had landed when they had been separated for only the briefest of moments, snatching up Itachi who put up one hell of a fight kicking and screaming, having to take it one step further that had him later on waking up in a room somewhere with no sight of his brother. This one had spirit in him, the worst pathetic trait to protect his family so what better way to crush it by telling him the truth. That was the first time he had ever been truly scared not for himself but for his brother, put into place with the threat against his life if he did not comply to what they wanted. It was the first and only time that he had cried himself to sleep.
The life of luxury was far from that. The next day he was transported to another location, not even sure if it was even the same state he had started in and then he was dumped with a new set of people and none of them spoke Japanese. Itachi was not the only one there as well, the place of the rejects that the other side did not want were forced into manual labor contracted out to people who would pay for their assistance. Construction building, farm work, production line, they travelled in groups together to do the shit jobs that no one wanted to touch and would rather pay some immigrant low wages to do it for them. Of course, the money made from it they never saw.
He began to learn at a rapid rate that it was futile to fight back against them, hold still and just squeeze your eyes shut, grit your teeth until punishment was over, the smallest little thing would set them off. Itachi had worked with broken bones, deep gashes that still seeped for days afterward, barely able to stand after some of the most despicable acts you could put a child through but it still never crushed him. He just got smarter knowing just to lie there and take it until they were satisfied that his lesson had been learned, let them treat you like a mangy dog that would some way just avoid being put down for another day.
So why not escape? When you were in an open area with the chances of running were greater than being enclosed then why would you not do it? Some tried and did not make it, shot on sight by the ones keeping the close eye on them. Getting out was impossible unless it was via suicide.
