Tenten {Part II}
Background History:
Tenten's history is not considered normal by any stretch of the imagination. The beginning was like something out of a movie. A woman and a man had sex, the man left the woman, the woman was heartbroken and found out she was pregnant. Tenten's mother dealt with the problem not by having an abortion, which are common in China, but by dropping her baby at an already-crowded orphanage.

Tenten grew up with many people, mostly females but also a smattering of males. It was the males that she took more naturally to, finding them more amusing and interesting than the more self-contained females. She developed a penchance for running around and sharp weapons. No one who came (most often from other countries) wanted this little tomboy who seemed far too obsessed with the kitchen knives.

Although she didn't ever get adopted, she was amazed by the people who came to visit the orphanage. There were people from many countries, but most came from the United States. Tenten grew amazed by these people, often wealthy and fair-skinned, with their wide eyes and their bumbling attempts at Chinese. Because she saw so much of these people, saw them save so many of her friends from the orphanage, a small idea to live in the United States bloomed in her heart.

Growing up, she lived a life that was a bit different. The orphanage shipped them off to school in the city, but most of the orphans were outcasts. Their tattered clothing, all the matron could afford, and lack of parents set them apart, and other children didn't like them much. Tenten coped by throwing herself into her studies. It wasn't as if she was naturally talented, but she did well by hard work, determination, and a lack of other ways to occupy her time.

On the day she turned eighteen, she left the orphanage and wandered about the streets, doing odd jobs when she could. One day she visited a circus, and she was entralled by the people there. The knife thrower interested her the most. The way he could throw them with flawless aim and the obvious trust between him and the others who volunteered. After the show, she approached him, determination in her eyes. "Teach me how," she demanded. She knew enough about the aerodynamics of the throw and the natures of the weapons to be skilled at it, and he accepted her offer.

Throughout the months, she became better and better as the circus traveled throughout the world. Before long, it was known that she had perfect accuracy, even with many weapons, different weapons, rapid throwing, and throwing while performing a type of gymnastics. It was hard work, but Tenten loved it very much, and she excelled at it. However, the circus wasn't doing as well as she was. By the time they were most of the way through their world circuit, having traveled to Nevada, they had to disband due to lack of funds.

Finding herself out of work and without any really marketable skills ("I can outline you in throwing knives" isn't exactly what people want to hear in interviews), Tenten counted up the money she'd earned as a circus performer and took menial, hard work. In these jobs, she gained a better command of the English language and enough money to buy books to improve that command.

One day she ran upon an intriguing ad in the newspaper for a person who could handle a camera, be discreet, and wasn't squeamish. It didn't call for much prior education at all, so Tenten grabbed it and ran to Feel Good Inc. It wasn't what she expected, but it was better than cleaning houses and woking in factories, so she stuck with it.
