Konan II
Background History:
Growing up, Konan was lively and spontaneous, always cheerful and ready for a new adventure to come. Of course, as most things tend to happen to happy, content and just people, her carefree attitude didn't last long when her parents didn't come home one night after a drive. She spent the next three years living with an aunt and uncle she had never known and those three years were what changed her drastically. Her once infinitely cheery disposition was now dampened, no longer doing anything for the sole purpose of 'fun' and keeping things as realistic as possible. It might have been for the fact that her parents had left her at the young age of eight, or it might have been because her relatives were pompous and self-centered, blaming their misfortunes on adopting their distant niece and bringing her into their home. Either way, Konan began to withdraw into herself, her thoughts and feelings kept inside as her delicate features pulled on a soon to be infamous poker face.
After the three years she had spent with her aunt and uncle, Konan had to move to America as she got a summons from a more closer relative. Her father's sister had finished the visa papers for an immigrant to come over and live there until the age of eighteen, and thereafter would take the test to become a citizen of the United States. She was eleven at the time and for any child it should have been something of an ordeal- to completely be taken away from their comfort zone wasn't something that normal children went through, at least- but Konan took it in stride. Her fear of moving was kept inside, the past few years of perfecting that blank face of hers coming into use as she boarded the plane to leave her home-land.
Her first years in America were hard- having to learn the language while going to school brought her grades down lower than she had intended- but Konan was a bright girl even with the small taunts and teasing she went through for having an accent when she spoke. Her middle school years were average by American standard, the students usually leaving her alone as she spent time mostly in the library to read or fold origami (the only thing she picked up from the relatives she had left in Japan). Her classmates weren't deterred by personality as she was accommodating to them and never rude, always willing to help them out if they needed some type of assistance in their studies. The teasing for her accent began to slowly stop between the years of middle school and transition into high school not only because she ignored them, but having to do with the fact that she was a girl, and growing up right prettily at that. This was probably the main reason as to why she lead a more quiet school life than her elementary school years, and hence the starting of a little game she started to play.
The game started in the middle of high school during her sophomore year. Her accent was hardly noticeable by then and her grades were top notch- though when she met people they weren't noticing that particular asset. She wasn't the cream of the crop, but having Asiatic features apparently made the appeal that much greater. Upper classmen would ask for her number and dates, and gave little gifts and such to appease her. Konan never thought anything of it, making more than enough acquaintances through this method, though none of them could pass that small barrier in the back of her heart that would actually let her call them her 'friends'. By the time she was able to see that utilizing herself could get her quite far, she was applying for college- a year and a half earlier than her classmates. One of her admirer's father was on the board-committee to a private, well-known university and by the time her junior year ended, she had been accepted for a full four year scholarship.
