Background History: Suigetsu was born into a military family, both of his parents having joined and met in the Navy. As such, they tended to move around a lot, and they never stayed anywhere for more than five years at most. So he tended to make acquaintances instead of actual friends, and he learned the tricks of the trade to quick, shallow friendships. He made one or two good friends that he’d always keep in touch with, but mostly he was stuck with his crazy family. He had an older brother that teased him mercilessly and often showed his affection by wrestling him to the ground and making him cry, but they were pretty close. Besides, it didn’t take long for Suigetsu to get tough and quick fast, and pretty soon he could hold his own against anyone, and came to realize that he liked fighting. Must have run in the family, because often he and his brother would get into fights. With anyone. With each other, with kids two times their size, and even other family members, they weren’t intimidated by anyone. It didn’t matter how many times that Suigetsu got sent to the principle’s office or how many times his father knocked him on the back of the head and denied him yogurt for a month, if there was one thing Suigetsu was good at, it was hitting where it hurt. Fighting was more fascinating to him than school anyway, which Suigetsu saw as a waste of time. He kept his grades up if only to make his mother happy and because he figured as soon as he was old enough he was going to drop out of school and head off to the military. That too, seemed like a bit of a family tradition.

By the time that Suigetsu was in high school, however, his family decided to settle down in one of the most horrifying places on Earth for some reason that Suigetsu still could not possibly comprehend. New Mexico. A barren desert wasteland of a hell hole, Suigetsu hated it there with every fiber of his being. He was used to be by the ocean, by having some body of water near him, and to never being so hot and bored all the time. There was nothing to do for a kid his age. Well, nothing legal. His brother managed to sneak him into most clubs, took him to parties whenever possible, and the two of them got into all sorts of trouble, but took great pains to never get caught. Being held for bond might be cool to some people, but not the military, and both of them had high dreams of climbing the ranks. And though most people would think his older brother was a bad influence, Suigetsu looked up to him and his brother kept him in line. It was only respect for his brother and wanting to follow in his footsteps that he was convinced to graduate and to go to college so that he could become an officer faster instead of just enlisting.
