He's fancied you for ages, of course he'd make a big deal out of it. Spinnet's on an opposing team, and close to that Axebanger fellow that Thomas got into a fight with a few months ago, so he probably sees it as some sort of weird, male betrayal.
Not that it is, but boys can be very stupid when it comes to things like this.
