[IOAN & ARCHIE] I HAD A DATE! I had a date? I went on a date. Wait, is it okay for me to go on a date? You guys aren't going to think I'm some sort of----augh-

So, I had dinner with a woman that wasn't my sister, on Saturday. [/IOAN & ARCHIE]

So, the Valentine decorations get taken down, and the St. Patty's shamrocks get thrown right up---I've even seen some Easter baskets floating around. Can't we enjoy one holiday before shoving the next down our throat?

Oi, it's about bloody time. So! Was it any good? Were you a total cad?

Now when you say "date," do you mean you asked her, or she asked you, or other?

A total cad---what century do you live in---wait, look who I'm talking to...

I---well, she--actually, neither of us actually...asked. Oh hell-

What century, ha! Until you get a ring on a girl, I get to do the making fun of.

---you didn't just sit at a table some poor girl was sitting at, did you?

I did have a bloody ring on a girl, have you not met my child have you---- Haaa.

No! No, do you remember---Jolene? She was in my year, oh, she's a secretary in Muggle Accidents and Catastrophes? Well, she set us up on a--blind date because apparently we were both obviously that desperate---well no but--

Shouldn't count if you don't love her, mate---

OUR SONS (ER, MAYBE OFFSPRING IS A BETTER TERM) CAN BE BEST FRIENDS TOO!!!!!!

A blind date. What was the girl like?

Oh, she didn't need a blind set-up because she's--you know, a bit unfortunate looking, or has a really awful laugh, did she? I've had the--arranged marriage bit done before, but never something as recreational as blind date. I don't think I'd do very well on them.

Okay, an arranged married is a bit more serious than a blind-date, I'd think. AND---and no she's not unfortunate looking at all--- I think she just---

I don't know, but we totally skipped out on a really big dinner bill and had burgers at the Leaky. How's that for the perfect Valentine's day?

Well! I clearly didn't go through with them!

Low-maintenance, eh? That's not too bad at all, especially for Valenti--wait, you didn't make her leave, did you! Because that is less low-maintenance and more creating an accessory to a crime.

No I didn't make her leave---I ordered some fish thing and didn't exactly want my face to blow up and she ordered this disgusting plate of---something, so we just ditched.

Come now! A trip to St. Mungo's wherein your face has swelled up a considerable amount would be a charming outing for any date.

All right, all joking aside, it's good to see you actually do something social. I didn't immediately jump to small-scale felony as a means of having said social interaction, but-- I can't say there haven't been at least three occasions wherein nobody should have been paid for what they served up.

Hogsmeade is good! It's--you know, nostalgic.

Oh, Merlin, but don't paw each other like the rabid students down there do. It was an annoying thing to have to look at in school, and it's appeal has not grown since then.

You know, I forget that "holiday" didn't used to be synonymous with "enormous scheme for large commercial companies to make obscene profits that could comfortably run third-world countries for three years"!

It wasn't even Christmas when I saw heart-shaped boxes of chocolates floating around.

Unless they were from last year's Valentine's Day, which is a separate issue altogether.

I'm starting to get really cynical about all holidays. Like Christmas! Who actually goes to church nowadays? If you don't actually believe the religious aspect of it, the day is just as commercial as Valentine's or...well, whatever other holiday we buy cards for.

It's really sad that everything's become about buying something for somebody, instead of just--you know, family and people you love, and all that.

I think I've decided Halloween is the best holiday.

Halloween? And why's that?

[info]softwhatlight

Not only do you not have to buy anything for anyone, you get to dress up (potentially as something ridiculous) and have it be socially acceptable.

I also may or may not have a rampant issue with a sweet-tooth, but that is irrelevant.

Well, I really can't argue with any of that. And now with Liam, I kind of have a real reason to gather up a bunch of candy one good thing he--

Honeydukes is always having sales, you know.

Is he susceptible to sugar-high? Most children I know become tyrants on the stuff, but it's a bit cute! In a loud, hyperactive way.

They know me by name there, now :\ I try to cut back, but I fear that sugar may be a qualified addiction.

Very susceptible. And he gets severely clingy during those times as well yes that's exactly what you need to be telling people-----

I should actually refill my hidden stash, it is always good to keep some sort of bribery around the house.

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]softwhatlight
2009-02-17 06:44 am UTC (link)
Well, clingy is good! It means he probably--well, you never can tell with children! won't hate you when he grows up! And that seems to be some sort of underlying (or not, really) fear that most parents have.

You know, bribing with sweets works on essentially everyone. Er, that--not in a--slutty way! Oh, gosh, in the same context as his child, Elsie, really!

Or he'll just be a nut job like- Does it really? I'll have to try that sometime. Though I'm not very good at picking out candy, I tend to just get what I want and forget about other people's tastes stop trying to be so fucking subtle just ask if she wants to go to Hogsmeade how bloody--You're not in third year it's not that big of a deal, and-- Would you mind helping me out?
