NAME: Benjamin Matthew Kane. AGE/BIRTHDAY: 18; September 11, 1992 GRADE: 12th Grade (Senior) CLASS: Upper Middle Class; his parents have always done okay for themselves and a better job in Chicago has ensured they have more than enough to get by.
FAMILY: Mom, Dad, little brother. Benjy is extremely protective of his little brother and he's pretty close to his parents, though he has a better report with his mama. He also has a number of cousins still living in Georgia who he is extremely close to. SEXUALITY: Verrrrrrry straight. ACTIVITIES: Football.
APPEARANCE: Despite the insistence of his family on referring to him as "Little Benjy," he a far from small. Benjy has always been tall for his age and currently stands at 6'1". He's not what you would call chunky, but he does have a little bulk to him. Benjy is an athlete and it shows plainly in his physique. If he's a little vain about his appearance, he has a right to be.
His style of dress is casual - worn jeans and t-shirts most of the time - but he does dress up when the occasion calls for it. He's always come off as older than he actually is. When he was 13, he looked closer to 16. Now that he's nearing 18, he could easily pass for being in his early twenties. It makes buying beer a lot easier than it would be if he had to convince someone older to buy it for him. PLAYED BY: Charlie Hunnam
LIKES: Girls, sex, girls, football, girls and girls.
DISLIKES: Studying, homework, boredom, cold weather.
STRENGTHS: Flirty, friendly, good memory, athletic.
WEAKNESSES: Easily distracted, lack of self control.
DETAILED PERSONALITY: Benjy isn't exactly, but he's also exactly a troublemaker, either, not unless you count the kind of trouble his charming smile and easygoing nature tends to get him into with the girls. He doesn't mind that sort of trouble, though, and those who know him will tell you that he's a good kid with a good head on his shoulders... most of the time.
Much like his younger cousin Matt, Benjy has lived and breathed football since he was old enough to hold one. He's dabbled in other sports - like basketball and baseball - but football has always been his biggest passion. He loves the game more than just about anything. His grades are decent enough, but it's probably football that will get him into college and be his ticket to the future.
Benjy is a pretty easygoing, laid back young man. There isn't a whole lot that really fazes him much. He doesn't have an extremely quick temper. He might have been a little dramatic when he was younger, but it's easy to be dramatic when your parents are taking away your iPod so you can't Facebook with your girlfriends round the clock. By and large, though, not much really fazes him. He's generally very chill. He's fairly protective of his little brother and his cousins, though. Trying to hurt one of them is one of the few guaranteed ways to really piss him off.
HISTORY: Ben is the first of two boys born in a tiny town in South Georgia. Most would consider his family relatively small in size if they didn't count his many cousins. With his dad having a handful of brothers and sisters and them having kids of their own, though, Benjy has never had a shortage of playmates. Out of all of his cousins, he's closest to Matt, but he loves all of his extended family to pieces and has always been a little protective of them.
It would be an understatement to say that Benjy wasn't exactly planned. Truth be told, his parents weren't even exclusively together when he was conceived. This was not a story he got to hear until fairly recently and he can't help being amused by it. Whatever their relationship in the past, though, Benjy's parents are very much in love. A little too much, if you ask him. They're always making googly eyes at each other and being entire too affectionate in front of him. Like any kid wants to know their parents still have an active sex life. Or ever did. Ew!
When Benjy was almost 3, his parents informed him that he was going to be a big brother. Ben wasn't exactly thrilled at first. Having to occasionally share his mom and dad's attention with his two younger cousins was bad enough. He warmed up to the idea, though, and by the time his little brother made it into the world, he was really excited.
Not long after that, Benjy started school and he quickly made friends with the other kids. Benjy was a sociable, outgoing little boy who liked to talk a little too much in class. His parents couldn't fault him for that, of course, but they eventually managed to convince him that he should wait for socializing until he wasn't sitting in a classroom. It didn't put a damper on the young boy's social life, though, and it seemed like there were constantly other kids over at the Kane's or vice versa.
It was inevitable that Benjy would be signed up for pee wee football just as soon as he was old enough and he loved it. Being bigger than most of the other boys his age, he usually ended up playing defense, but he didn't mind. He actually kind of liked tackling people. Benjy was raised to be too much of a gentleman to want to hit people on purpose otherwise, but it was pretty cool knocking people to the ground in the game. He stayed with the sport all the way through grade school and middle school and when he got to high school, he tried out for his team and made it easily. He was one of the few guys in his class as a freshman who actually got to start in a few games.
When Benjy was 14, his dad got promoted to a job up in Chicago with his company. The money was a lot better. Benjy missed his friends and cousins like CRAZY, but he adjusted to Chicago pretty well if you don't count the fact that they moved in the middle of winter. He hated the cold weather, but there was no shortage of attractive girls willing to help him keep warm and that part didn't suck.
Benjy's grades have never been great, but he's done well enough to get by. Every once in awhile he'll catch a disapproving look from his dad when he brings home a string of C's with a few B's added in. He works hard enough to do that well, at least. Benjy knows if he doesn't pass his classes, he doesn't get to play football, so he makes sure he does pass. In truth, he's a pretty smart kid. He's just often distracted by other things. Girls, footballs, hanging out with his buddies. Only a crazy person would rather study. Besides, he knows he'll get a football scholarship to college and will someday play in the NFL. Getting perfect grades doesn't seem all that important in the grand scheme of things.
