Marta Crane
Marta Crane
Age: 30
Title: Board of Governors for Salem Academy
Residence: Salem
Familiar: No familiar
Magical abilities: Lycanthropy (this is a secret). Water. Healing.

Biography: She is the youngest member of the Board of Governors for Salem Academy, having been elected at the age of 27, just after her graduation. Her main focus has been to serve the students, whatever the cost. She will get behind radical ideas if it serves the students, but likes to take the middle road when it makes more sense.

Her personal life has often taken a backseat to her academic and professional life. She becomes fixated and devoted to a project (or in this case, a job) and throws herself wholeheartedly into it.

No one knows that Marta was bitten by a werewolf last year. She has had a very painful adjustment to the idea. She takes quicksilver to prevent transformations and is incredibly diligent about keeping this secret. Even her friends (the few she has managed to keep despite never having time for them) don't know about her secret.

She doesn't know that she could have been king, but the prophets are aware (and who knows if someone was listening in).

Merk
Merk is a hobgoblin. He lived in Agatha's house for many years until her death. He is particularly disparaging of vampires and werewolves, referring to them as "it" rather than nicer pronouns or names. He is a rather surly creature, even to people he actually likes.

Biography: Lord Mayhume Fare Hayward
Lord Mayhume Fare Hayward, or simply Hayward as he prefers to be called, is an interdimensional traveler. He acts as ambassador between many worlds. He is known as an ambassador from the other continent, Meridian, but those in the know are aware that this title has little to do with his actual function within the Aylasian government.

He has a tendency to wear ill-fitting clothes that don't particularly fit the current fashion style. One of his points of pride is that he can make himself comfortable in to almost any situation simply because he sticks out. He has a jovial sense of humor about himself and gets along with most sorts of people.

He has a single key that can open any door in any world. As to whether it can open any lock, he won't say. He knows many ways of traveling (such as incantations, manipulating shadow passages, bending space and time around yourself), some methods of which he teaches to particular people (sometimes, seemingly on a whim).

He has a long standing friendship with Hamlin Graves. He is a reasonably well known enemy of Gideon Morrow; he takes joy in goading him.

Master Post: Prophets
We have 3 prophets that are not played by players. If you want, we can put our heads together and make the other one (unless someone wants to pick them up for play).

Maris Solange
As a prophet she has always been willing to speak with press about certain matters. She puts a calming and humanistic face behind the usually mysterious and sometimes feared prophets.

Monroe Puissant
He is incredibly gifted with his visions, but also incredibly tired of it. After the past year of confusion and trouble he's debating stepping down (though he's yet to see a possible replacement).

Master Post: Pirates
NPC's aboard the Vicious Barnacle - this will be added to as needed.

Sebastien: Pirate/Jinx
Second Mate aboard the Vicious Barnacle, Sebastien is self centred and cares only for himself. This makes pirating an ideal life for him as he doesn't care who he hurts or how and he's a very good traditional pirate. So good he thinks he deserves a higher rank than second mate and traditional enough he doesn't think Rabiah or Atty have any place aboard ship. He might have to do something about that in the near future - and it might even lead to promotion for him! Only problem is it's hard to plan a mutiny with a fortune teller on board.

Permissions: Usable by current pirate crew only please!

Gibbon and Perdu: Pirates/Earth elements
These two pirates are rarely found apart because they seem to get on a little better together than on their own. Their earth element is little use at sea and neither can swim leading to a shared fear ofdrowning. Never the less they prefer pirating to honest work and are on the very bottom rung of the crew due to their own follies and tendency to try and greed more than their fair share of the loot. Both are competent sailors and were reasonably happy with life aboard the barnacle until Sebastian convinced them they deserved more. Perdu lost his eye in the raid where Atty was granted her ruby runes and often tries to steal them but so far has failed.

Master Post: The Underworld
If you'd like to add an NPC who is involved in SHADY BUSINESS, please add them here (unless they have a very extensive bio, which merits its own post).

Morris: Healer.
Morris has been offering his services as a healer to those with ..particular connections for as long as many of those people can remember. He's a nice enough individual, but has a tendency to make people feel ill at ease. He is a competent healer and has seen pretty much everything in his time.
Permissions: Usable by anyone, adoptable

The Butterfly Brothers: Cleaners/Falsifiers/Fixers.
The Butterfly Brothers are so termed because they can turn an ugly, caterpillar of a crime scene into a beautiful, butterfly of normality. Or just give your home/establishment a rather nice makeover, really. (They had a brief stint as the 'Scorpionfly Brothers' but people refused to hire them.) They aren't really brothers. Between them they have a nice complement of abilities (magical and otherwise) and ideas to transform an environment into something that it is not. (Including cleaning, fabrication, or just fixing things.)

Master Post: Parliament
If you'd like to add an NPC who works in Parliament, please add them here (unless they have a very extensive bio, which merits its own post).

Theresa: Parliament Secretary.
Gideon Morrow's secretary. At work she's serious, all business (even though she doesn't like Gideon and has helped to plan his downfall). Outside of work she's pretty wild, like to go to bars and party until the wee hours.
Permission: Usable by anyone, adoptable

Clive Archambault: Parliament Official.
He's a law-maker. More than a bit full of himself, he's been through several assistants this year. His most recent hire is Margaret Caldwell.
Permission: Usable by anyone, adoptable

Master Post: LEOs
If you'd like to add an NPC Leo, please add them here (unless they have a very extensive bio, which merits its own post).

Burton Peeps: Chief Commissioner of the LEOS.
Hard nosed police commissioner. Means business. He presents a very put together face to the press, but inside closed doors he's prone to screaming at his subordinates. Most LEOs are afraid to get on his bad side.
Permission: Usable by anyone, adoptable

Andrew Mast: LEO.
Easy going cop, very nice to prisoners. When Trix was in jail he went out of his way to make sure she was fed, since all the other LEOs would have let her starve. He can be funny and has a good sense of humor about himself.
Permission: Usable by anyone, adoptable

Avery: LEO.
She's a smart and capable cop. She's tough and won't shy from tackling a perp.
Permission: Usable by anyone, adoptable

Intro to the NPC Journal
This is the NPC Journal for Beyond the Graves.

I'm borrowing this concept from another game because I love how it works there. The basic idea is that you can play an npc through this journal, or get someone else to play your npc (or their npc) so that you're not forced to write logs/threads by yourself. Of course if you prefer to do that, that's fine as well, but this gives us another, different opportunity to play together with players we might not play with because of our characters, etc.

Everyone is allowed to play on this journal, but you also have the discretion to limit who plays with what NPC (exs: I make Peter, a LEO. I'll give permission if anyone wants to play. Or Becky makes Susan, a Silk Road Hookerbot. She doesn't want anyone but herself to play Susan. Or Sass makes Brown, a pirate. She wants anyone to play Brown and doesn't need to give permission).

Please put up bios for your npcs in this journal. They don't need to be as extensive as character bios. Please only add one icon per npc (because of the icon limits on scribbld). Feel free to add details to the bios as you discover them.

You're welcome to still play your npcs on your already established character journals; this is just another option if you'd like it.
