Miscellany: Unstuck in Time
This applies more specifically to Beyond the Graves since Cam and Kat are definitely unstuck in time.

When time travel is taken lightly an individual runs the risk of becoming unstuck in time. This is when the travel is hastily done, or when it is augmented by some other magic (Cam and Kat were skipping dimensions when gifts given to them threw them off the correct timeline).

This explains why time travel is not taken lightly and very few people ever risk it.

Essentially when one is unstuck in time they cease to exist in their own timeline. Magic mail cannot be delivered to them; dreams cannot be woven for them (at least not in their own timeline). They cannot return to their own timeline without extraordinary magic. Those who return to their natural timeline are usually pulled back into it by someone on the other side, rarely does anyone manage to gather the magic required on their own. Many who become unstuck remain in the new timeline for the rest of their lives.

When interdimensional travel is thrown into the mix it gets even more complicated. The parties involved may reverse age (a la The Picture of Dorian Grey) and their magic may become unstable. When returned to their correct time the side effects of becoming unstuck often remain.

This may be added to later, as we're still figuring some of this out in game.

From a book in Reed's Hall library: Mail has occasionally been marked as undeliverable when one is unstuck in time...

From a book in Marlowe's Hall library: Interdimensional travel is compounded when one travels along a timeline. If done without careful consideration one can be unstuck in time. This can happen whenever time travel is rushed.

He or she who has become unstuck ceases to exist in their own time and loses the ability to travel by normal means. It takes extraordinary magic to pull an individual back into their own timeline; more magic than is possessed by an ordinary mage.
