NAME: Chandler Fitzpatrick AGE/BIRTHDAY: 14; January 8, 1996 GRADE: 9th Grade; Freshman CLASS: Lower class. Chandler is a popular guy amongst his classmates, though he's a bit of a loner and there are those who would make fun of his tattered clothes and the fact that his family has next to no money.
FAMILY: His father and 3 older brothers. The oldest is a drug dealer and his dad is too wasted to be a real father. The second oldest brother works two jobs to provide for the family. Chandler isn't very close to any of them. He was a mama's boy when he was younger, but she died when he was 9. SEXUALITY: Straight. ACTIVITIES: Football, basketball, honor society
APPEARANCE: He's tall, standing at about 6'2, not skinny, but not bulging, either. Catch him with his shirt off and it's obvious he was a jock at least at some point in his life, because he has the right muscles for it, but he's not bulky in the least. Just very fit, with a relatively lean frame.
Chandler dresses mostly in jeans and tshirts. His style is very casually and he'll even grunge it up with a flannel from time to time. Tell him that fad has passes and he'll shrug and grunt at you, because he couldn't care less about fashion. He prefers comfort over style. PLAYED BY: Kevin Zegers
LIKES: reading, being alone, playing sports
DISLIKES: large crowds, loud noises, helping his drug dealing brother
STRENGTHS: quick and flexible, intelligent, an excellent writer
WEAKNESSES: anti-social, broody, has a temper, secretive
DETAILED PERSONALITY: Chandler is a serious sort of guy. He doesn't smile often and he really has that brooding grunge boy bit down pat. He's not very talkative at all, unless you're one of the few people he is exceedingly close to (like his brothers or a close friend) and he's not a big partier. Chandler knows he's lucky to be at school on scholarship and he intends to make it work, so he spends a good bit of his time (when he's not at practice) studying his ass off to make sure he can keep his scholarship.
He's really a sweetheart, though. If you manage to work your way into his inner circle, he'll do anything for you. Even if he doesn't agree with what you're having you do, he'll do it and not make a fuss to your face. The boy would literally kill for the people he loves, even if he won't willingly vocalize his feelings.
He's a man of action much more than words. Chandler has never in his entire life uttered the words "I love you" but he tries to let his actions say it for him and likes to think the important people in his life know how he feels.
He can commonly be found curled up somewhere with a book or his writing pad, just quietly reading or writing away. His personality is so completely different from who he is on the court that you wouldn't even know he is the same boy, but that guy on the court? That is mostly for show. The quiet, serious one is closer to who he really is 90% of the time. Maybe someday he'll find a good balance somewhere in the middle.
HISTORY: Chandler grew up poor, the youngest of four boys. His parents never had much money growing up and there were a lot of material things he went without as a kid. Chandler's mother died when he was only 9 and that really made things at home worse. Chandler grew quiet and sullen, often spending all of his time in his room, or, as much as he could get away with doing so. It seemed like their family was literally falling apart and even when he goes along with his oldest brother's schemes, he hates it, hated every minute of it. It occurred to him at before long that he needed to get out. He often buries himself in school, in studying and sports and whatever he can do to be assured of an eventual ticket to a college far away.
Chandler discovered early on that he had a natural gift for sports. He was flexible and limber, light on his feet. He started running track and playing basketball, juggling that with his schoolwork, in hopes that if he was good enough, he'd end up with a scholarship, the only real way he was ever going to make it to college. His hopes paid off and he even managed to graduate with a decent GPA. Between his grades and his athletic abilities, he hopes to get a scholarship to a good college, preferably one that is far away from his dysfunctional family.
Somewhere along the way, he developed a love of reading and literature. He harbors secret ambitions of moving to England and becoming a writer, not that the two are really related, though he really hasn't told anyone about this dream. He's working on a book in stealth, the story of his life and the way he and his brothers grew up, though it's not quite the same, and even if he never publishes it, he's happy to be writing it.
He still has issues over losing his mother, of course. He loved her to bits and a part of him wonders if she can still see him, if she's proud of him at all. Another part wonders if she'd be angry that he wants to essentially run away for a "better" life. He dwells on it far too much, what his mother would think of him now, because it's impossible to ask her, but it keeps him grounded in family and makes him occasionally second-guess that desire to get as far away from what's left of his family as possible.
