Cygnus' estate was once held in such high regard by Sirius; somehow, it served as his home away from home, a saviour of sorts when the arguing became too much to bear. No longer. The rooms that once housed so many memories were now nothing more than an unwanted, painful link to the past -- a past in which Sirius had all but tried to forget as he aged, became the man he knew no one but himself would appreciate. The sudden shove to his shoulder was another dull reminder of this.
"I can, I can and I am, and there is no getting rid of me."
Had that attitude been taken years earlier, Sirius couldn't help but wonder if they'd still be in the same dreaded predicament as they found themselves now. There was no proper way of knowing, and so that too would be pushed to the back of Sirius' thoughts. At least for the moment, as other matters were much more important and deserved his undivided attention.
"I disappointed you once, Uncle, and I'm not about to again. You have to let me try."
Said through gritted teeth, Sirius' voice trembling despite the attempt to mask any sort of emotion now coursing through his veins. This would be the last chance Sirius would have to prove himself to his Uncle, to the man he so desperately needed to gain some sort of approval from no matter the years of silence between them.
