99.99% Complete! [07 Mar 2005|06:39pm]
[ music | Atmosphere - Trying to Find a Balance ]

Well, after working on the new server and the new journals I think everything is complete. I've moved the new images onto the new server. It's also set-up as an FTP server which will hold movies and files. Everything seems to be running smooth now.

Got a dentist appointment tommorow, not looking forward to that. I hate them, and because I don't get the cool little toys after I really hate them now haha I think I have the whole day off tommorow too.

So uuuh yeah guess who came in the mail today?! Love Wishes and Sundance! Mary is going to be so jealous. I wonder if she went to Target and got Bow Tie today. I will be jealous of her if she did. I kinda like Bow Tie even though I really don't like anything but So Softs. I talked to Katie today. She was feeling all that well, some kinda sick bug or something Poor poor Katie. Posted about the new herd on MLPArena, I am so happy I finally got Love Wishes! She's actually really pretty, but the hair is so crazy! I also braided Cupcakes hair today since it was so weird. I was pretty impresed with the result, it looks cute too. Sundances hair is really really like dry, it's really annoying and it was very knotty, I wasn't happy about that‚ I have a nice framed picture from marco on my desk now. it looks great. My dad made a lame ass comment about it being MLP and I was liek STFU noob, it's art‚

Like Morgan said with all the new journals and servers and IPs everything has become quite confusing. I gotta remember which servers use which protocols too. Speaking of protocols I found all my Cisco Notes‚ I might go resurrct my Cisco notes from LJ too and build a Wiki‚ damn, THAT IS A GOOD IDEA! I'm on that, that's my new project! Cisco CCNA Wiki! Sweet! I am excieted Haha

Alright enough blabbing, I'm going to go work on that!!

Grrr‚ [07 Mar 2005|08:08pm]
[ music | GoodBurger OST ]

Dinner time with my family can either be fun or it can be one of those tihngs you need your iPod for. Well this was a need your iPod dinner.

My parents can be really cool at times or they can be complete asshats. I'll let you choose which ones they were tonight. Since I am 18 and not in college that means I can't have health insurance on their policy, or I ca, they just don't wanna pay whatever it costs which is fine. So of course now I have to pay for it. Ok, no. Not happening on my income right now. So I say no, I'm not paying for it. Not like it's the law that I need to have health insureance. It's a damn good thing to have but it's not something I want to pay for right now. I'd rather them kill me then pay $1,000,000 for some lousy hospital bill.

Anyways, they have finally threated well actually they said they're shutting off the DSL service. Funny thing is I work at a place for like 8 hours a day with dual T1s and 6mbit DSL connection. So I guess I am going to have to stick around there for a little longer to get some work done. Although now the new journals are installed and Small Apple doesn't really need an upgrades right now. I was going to do that Wiki, but Tiki Wiki is impossible to use, the interface is shit. The one Darin uses it pretty cool. I am going to ask him about that one, I think it's Media Wiki but I am not sure. So I setup a journal for Andrew. The link to it is under the Blogroll.

Either yes, tommorow our DSL will be shutdown or it won't be and they're just being morons. Whatever. I have a couple of known working dial-up accounts that I can use. Again, work has a big fat line Of course that means FTP is no good.

I am watching GoodBurger right now. it's actually someones Christmas present but it's kinda past Christmas. So yeah I got the Maxim 2005 Calendar, some DVDRs, an MxPx CD and Kingdom Hearts. Haha

I am actually thinking it would be good for me to take some time from the internet. at least not having this damn line in the house will allow me to have a life. I of course won't be not working on Small Apple, but I'll actually have to do other things, like play Nintendo DS, and PS2 and PSP when I get it. Also I'll be able to read my magazines and make the newsletter hella good.

So I am talking to Michael. Seems Darin used InstikiWiki, looks pretty cool, but it requires something called ruby which I know nothing about. And how can it not use Apache, how are the pages served? I think I might end up using a WordPress for Cisco stuff‚ although half my notes are on a back up of SceneJournal which is who knows where. I might not even have it anymore. I might drop the Wiki project just as fast as I thought about it. Oh well‚ maybe I'll come up with something else. I have too many projects running already anyways. I should just stick to the journal, Small Apple and Scrupmtious Newsletter and working at Small Dog.

I think I am going to go hang up my NEW Maxim calendar now and finish watching GoodBurger. Laters.

Off-Topic Fools [07 Mar 2005|09:16pm]
[ music | Alexisonfire - Counter Parts and Number Theme ]

Some people can't keep on the topic of a thread for the life of them. I really don't think it's that hard. If you have something new to say, open a new thread. It's pretty simple. I've had to close like 3-4 threads in the last couple days because people can't stay on topic. It's kinda annoying too, sometimes I don't even know what the hell was being explained in the first place.

I added a link to Darins blog on the left under blogroll, check it out. I'm off to play some DS and yell at my parents and eat ice cream or something.

Google moves beyond beta with desktop search [07 Mar 2005|10:47pm]
[ music | Armor For Sleep - Car Underwater ]

Google has introduced a full version of its desktop-search software, with a developer's kit and support for the Firefox and Netscape browsers.

The Mountain View, Calif., company on Monday released a PC application for searching Microsoft Office documents, images, e-mail and Internet Explorer Web pages. Google Desktop, which had been in public beta for nearly five months, now includes search capabilities for video and music files, full PDFs and Web surfing history in three Web browsers, including the fast-growing Firefox.

It also includes a software developers kit, or SDK, so that outsiders can build new search plug-ins. Already, Google has built a plug-in to search conversations in the Trillian chat software. "Google desktop search stores a copy of everything you see,‚" said Nikhil Bhatla, a Google product manager. "That can be extremely useful if, for example, an application crashes. With (the tool), you can get the text of that last document you were working on.‚"

Sony will Launch with 1 Million PSP Systems [07 Mar 2005|11:26pm]
Sony said it would start out with 1 million PSP portable video game players in North American retail store for its March 24 launch. This is double what most people expected and more then the number of DS systems Nintendo launched with.
The PSP launched in Japan in December and is in extremely limited supply there. However even with a limited supply the demand for the PSP was ever increasing and more than the demand for the Nintendo DS.

The PSP will retail for $249 at launch in a bundle with several accessories and the movie "Spider-Man 2″ on UMD, a disc format developed for the PSP. A standalone version of the Sony PSP is expected just in time for Christmas and should have a retail price of $199.

The Sony PSP will be able to play movies, music along with videogames.

Yahoo readies iTunes rival for launch [07 Mar 2005|11:34pm]
[ music | Boys Night Out - (Just Once) Let's Do Something ]

Web giant Yahoo is poised to launch a new digital store and music player, aiming to compete more directly with Apple Computer's successful iTunes service, according to sources familiar with the project.
As previously reported, Yahoo has been working on the project along with digital-music wholesaler MusicNet since before the $160 million purchase of rival music company Musicmatch. Sources familiar with Yahoo's plans said the new store and software had been scheduled to debut early this week but that the launch date was pushed back.

Representatives from Yahoo and MusicNet declined to comment for this story.

Yahoo's full-fledged entry into the digital-music retail business could help shift a market that has remained tilted strongly in Apple's favor. Yahoo has already built a large and loyal following for its streaming-music and video service, and could parlay that into music sales.

Indeed, the company's Launchcast radio services was the highest-rated Webcasting service online in January, according to ratings firm Arbitron and ComScore Media Metrix, attracting more than 2.2 million people that month.

However, Apple's dominance has been challenged by other giants, ranging from Sony to Microsoft, without substantially decreasing the iPod maker's market share. Last week, Apple said it had sold more than 300 million songs through its iTunes store since its launch.

"You have to look at how to create a linkage between a device and the online service,‚" GartnerG2 analyst Mike McGuire said. "But given Yahoo's traffic and their very active communities, the potential (for success) is there.‚"

Yahoo has begun to streamline its music and multimedia properties over the past few months, changing the name of its Launch site to Yahoo Music and consolidating its entertainment businesses in a Santa Monica, Calif., office near Hollywood.

The new MusicNet-powered music service will be integrated into Yahoo's existing infrastructure, possibly including features such as links to its popular instant-messaging program, sources said. MusicNet's technology allows companies to offer subscription services or per-song downloads, and is used by Virgin Digital Downloads, America Online and others.

Sources close to the company said the new service is likely to launch by the end of the month.

Forged Maxtor HDDs turn up in Japan [07 Mar 2005|11:46pm]
[ music | Boxcar Racer - Watch the World ]

Fake 320GB Maxtor hard drives have surfaced in Japanese retail channels, the storage company confirmed this weekend.
The dodgy drives were spotted on sale in Tokyo's Akihabara district, offered as Maxtor MaXLine II product. The units purport to be model number SA320J0, a 5400rpm, 3.5in product aimed at OEMs rather than retail channels, but a close examination of the drives' markings made by Japanese-language site PC Watch revealed some major differences between the purchased drive and the real thing.

According to the site, Maxtor has confirmed the purchased drive is a forgery. While some such products are actually legitimately-made units that have failed to pass QA tests and have been appropriated before they are due to be destroyed, Maxtor said that the MaXLine II forgeries were not made in any of its factories.

The manufacturer said it was continuing its investigation into the source of the mis-labelled drives.

Indications that the purchased drive might not have been the Real McCoy included an incorrect font on the label and the use of a lower-case ‘X' in the drive's family name. The drive also gives BIOS information inconsistent with its external branding and model number.
