The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker — Progress [15 Sep 2006|09:07am]
I’ve completed the first real level of Wind Waker. It was a pain since the guides on the internet suck and IGN is special access only to their guide. Anyways, after figuring out which spotlights had to be shut off so that I could safely creep through the Forsaken Fortress, I managed to find the door which lead to my Hero Sword. From there it was quite easy and I finished the level only to find out that the giant bird tossed me right off the island and away from my goal.

I ended up on some boat and on Windfall Island. There were several missions to complete on this island and not having a decent guide make it suck. I finished the mission within an hour though and was on my way to the next level.

I cannot even remember the name of the level after Windfall Island but that’s where I am. Hopefully I can get some game time in this weekend.

iTunes 7 and New Apple Toys [15 Sep 2006|09:08am]
I know I am little late in writing about the Apple Event on September 12th but I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to jot my thought about this happening down.

Apple released a couple new products on the 12th and most of them were pretty darn cool! While many people thought they were going to slip out a real Apple phone we saw nothing like that although the rumors and even more images of phone are surfacing.

Apple released the 2nd Gen iPod Nano which I think is sweet! It comes in 5 different colors. I think many people are going to be happy about this, because so many people were disappointed when Apple took the iPod Mini line out. The only color that didn’t make a comeback was gold but new to the line-up is black. I hope to get my hands on one of these by spring next time haha I am sure we’ll get a unit for the store son enough though and I’ll post some pictures soon.

The iPod Nano wasn’t the only one that got the update but the iPod Video got updated and now has a brighter screen and the 60GB model was dropped for an 80GB model. I for one will not get 60GB and definitely not an 80GB. It’s just to big and I never carry around that music music. I would be fine with a 10GB iPod Video! But it’s great for people who love to carry around their entire library!

Apple also released some new games for the iPod!! This is something we’ve been waiting for for along time. Don’t get me wrong I love Brick and it’s the game that got me through my high school graduation but new games are always fun. One game that looks to be a lot of fun is the Mini-Golf game and also Mahjong…I am so addicted to Mahjong. I’ll probably buy them when I am done writing this post and maybe post a little review of them. I believe each game costs $4.99 and can be bought from the iTunes Music Store.

Next, iTunes 7. iTunes 7 includes a whole new fresh UI and I like it a lot. Before I continue, I heard that lots of people were complaining and having lots of issues with iTunes 7. So far I’ve had absolutely no issues with it, although I haven’t really USED it, accept to get album art. iTunes 7 also marks the opening of the movie store! You can now purchase from 4 (?) different movie studios and there’s 70+ movies available for purchase and download! This is quite exciting although many people thought a bigger screen video iPod would have come out alongside this. The movies themselves cost as little as $10 which is great. I am anxious to try this service out just to see how it all works and how the movies look quality-wise. Some new interface enhancements include a visual representation of your music collection. Apple bought the software CoverFlow and integrated it into the new iTunes. I think it looks really great. The icons for iTunes have also been upgraded I think they look wonderful. One other neat feature I saw was that the ability to backup your library is now built right into iTunes. While it only allows for backup to CDs and DVDs I guess that’s a start. it would have been nice to back up to an external HDD or an extra internal HDD or better a network drive.

I think the last thing that saw the light of day on the 12th was the iTV unit from Apple. Basically it allows you to connect the iTV device to a TV and it will enable you to play content from a Mac that’s located elsewhere in your house. This sounds pretty cool to me, although we have the computer right next to the TV which means we just use an adapter and a cable to go into the TV. It does look like an interesting piece of hardware though. I think it’s set to release sometime in early 2007, probably at the winter MacWorld.

Overall, the new lineup of iPods looks great and the future of Apple products looks wonderful. Very exciting stuff!
