Alright, no hating on this post. I actually found out about this application on an Apple blog or something... So I barely use Windows but now that the next episode for Half Life 2 is coming out I can't help it. I also got a few games I had to burn and I absolutely love ImgBurn for Windows. It's a wonderful tool. Alright, enough justifying. Windows Live Writer is just a blogging tool made by Microsoft. I'd have to say it's really great since it includes the abilities to publish to many of the popular blogging services including your own setups. I use WordPress and I must say it works perfectly with it. It even includes the ability to grab the theme I am using and when I typing up a post it looks how it would like on my blog (fonts, link colors, etc...). You can switch between that mode, a HTML mode, normal mode, and a web preview mode. Currently the software is in a beta stage, but works quite well. I haven't had any crashes or issues yet. It's probably one of the nicest pieces of software to come out of Microsoft. It's great for new bloggers, but for more in-depth bloggers it can be great too. You can easily add images, hyperlinks, maps, tables, tags, videos and it even has support for plugins. Another great thing is that it's not riddled with ads and other crap that just kill the application. Windows Live Writer supports multiple blogs, multiple viewing modes, easy text formatting and editing options, spell checking, editing older entries, inserting various types of media, and more. I didn't think I'd ever come to write a positive article about Microsoft or any of it's products, but Windows Live Writer is really cool. You can get some more information and download Windows Live Writer from the Writer team blog.
