Henry knows fear. When he knew his father was held captive by Mongul, and he thought his own greed for the green ring was more than his love for his dad. But he knew how to overcome that.
Still, the first blast hits him solidly, before he can overcome fear in his mind. He reels, then looks back at Malicor, a bit of blood running from his nose. He turns back to charge again, letting Josh distract Malicor (as best as he can) with his insults while Henry takes him on directly.
