Unable to hold it back, Malicor just laughs and continues to blast at Henry, trying to knock him out. He's trying to hurt Henry as much as possible - the Green Lantern can't break out if he's not awake to do it!
As he blasts, the construct starts to constrict, growing smaller and attempting to squish Henry. It's only once that process has started that Malicor turns his attention to Josh and starts sending blasts his way, trying to outright kill the pesky human.
