Overwhelmed with the Ordinary

Things wot I saw on my way to the gym... @ 10:10 am

Current Mood: relieved

Santa on a bicycle. Real beard, Santa hat, riding his bike to the train station, I think...I waved but he didn't see me. *wah*

Behind a truck with Washington DC plates. Made me think of VA and MD this past summer. Had the 1/20/09 END OF AN ERROR bumper sticker, a Scottish flag sticker, and some pretty green and white one that said "leave it as it is" or something to that effect - I think it was promoting not messing with the ocean. Maybe oil rigs? Not sure.

Then I had a grand time at the gym on my treadmill, watching a LOM-UK episode on my Palm. Gods, I love my Palm. Watching a tv show is such a great distraction for me.

When I was done, I pulled my cell phone from the locker to find a voice mail and four missed calls. Argh. On Wednesdays Katie goes in late so the teachers all have their weekly "academic seminar" which is meant for basically a team meeting and training on a weekly basis. All our schools do this on Wednesdays (my younger two come home early rather than going in late.)

So when I left for the gym I reminded Katie to leave on time.

Well, she didn't.

She tried to call me but I didn't have pockets to hide my phone in and they don't like phones in there at all, because of the idiots who WILL take pictures of the naked people in the locker rooms, sigh. My phone was in the locker and I never got the call.

She called Grandma, who wasn't there. Then she called Daddy, who thought she could wait for me. Good thing she didn't, I wasn't even LEAVING the gym until 20 minutes past the time school started. She thought she'd take her bike instead, and so it appears she did. She had to dig it out from the garage - her bike was furthest back of all theirs - but I hope she got to school on time. She had fifteen minutes to ride a mile+.

Ah, school just called at my request - she did get there safely, but was tardy. Well, that's her problem, a little lesson for her to pay attention to the clock more, lol. She got in school suspension a couple of weeks ago - what a rough start to middle school, but I think these are good lessons for her. Not everything is easy.

At any rate, I realized I didn't have the school number in my phone (about to fix that!) but I did have the elementary school, so called them and asked if they could transfer me over, and they did, and I asked if they could check on her, please. Whew.

Now to eat something and take a shower and get to work.

What a day already. It's only 10am!

oh, it's 1994 at kink.fm. Which means...I've heard TWO Dave Matthews Band songs already! :D
