more five-questions meme answers... @ 08:52 pm

Current Mood: tired
Current Music: Don't Fear The Reaper (More cowbell!) - SNL

I'm going to bed right after this.

[info]neaslon listed:

1.Muti tasking
2.generosity
3.talented
4.Avid reader
5.S&H

1. Multi-tasking - I fail at this a lot. :) I feel most productive if I've got the washer, dryer, dishwasher all going, and both the work puter and personal puter open and running. Plus remembering what time it is and when I have to be somewhere. At any rate, yeah, I do this. :)

2. Generosity. It's better than selfishness. There's a time for selfishness, but overall, I find it better to share than to hide. I've been the recipient of incredible generosity, and I have felt so thrilled at being the one, or one of many, who were able to be generous for another. It's all gold and green beauty. :)

3. Talented. EVERYONE is talented in something. My son is talented in pushing my buttons, for example. **glares him to bed** I don't think I, myself, am super-talented in anything - I'm constantly learning and trying to do better.

4. Avid reader. Well, if I like the subject matter, I will read and re-read, and read some more. I read a lot more before I was a mom, and before fandom, actually. Books were my thing. Now I'm online....

5. Starsky & Hutch - I answered this earlier, but I'll re-riff - MY BOYS ARE SEXY AND BEAUTIFUL TOGETHER!

And then [info]karitawyr listed: 1. Kink FM
2. Coke and Jack
3. The World's Largest Gift Shop
4. Lightning storms
5. Three's Company

1. KINK.fm. Yanno, this was the "weird people" radio station, in my mind, for a long while. they played hippie music, for all I could tell. Back in the mid-nineties, they had a television commercial that featured Randy Newman and they also had one that played clips of music - music we would listen to! But if we turned to the station, we never seemed to hear THOSE, just that other stuff we didn't care for much. But then one day I realized that kink played DMB - at the time the *only* station in town that did - and I started listening and found my groove in the 2000-era music there. They've been around since Christmas Day, 1968, which makes me 11 months older than they are. No name changes, no real format changes since their switch from albums to singles. I love 'em, and I love that they go out over the internet for others to listen, too.

2. Coke and Jack. LOL! I still have the drink coaster! [info]j_crew_guy and I had shared drinks at the bar at Con*Strict the year he came, because he owned me a margarita. I don't remember why! And his nickname is Jack (see story below about Three's Company) and the coasters had "Jack &" on one side an "Coke &" on the other. We kept it on the "Jack &" side so we could laugh and decide who he was with! It was just another Jack reference that made an inside joke more fun. I think the rest of the con someone would say a name and we'd add, "AND JACK!" but I don't recall specifically. Woe!

3. The World's Largest Gift Shop. Bwahahaha! I drove us there last year at Con*strict, in [info]glasshouseslive's rental car. I think I scared her; she drove back! This is the HUGEST store full of tourist crap in the world! And of course, we bought the crap! I got condoms with my name on them (not that we NEED them, lol.) Magnets with all my family names on them. A pole-dancer tshirt for [info]the_emu. Vintage styled postcards. SO. MUCH. CRAP. We were in heaven!

4. Lightning storms. Oh. My favorite weather event ever. I am so humbled by the power and beauty and glory of a thunderstorm. I've coached my children to not be afraid, but to be respectful and see the beauty. My three best memories of thunderstorms: 1) I was a kid and staying with my grandmother. We'd been walking out in the pastures and there was a RED raincloud. Nothing else was red - just that one. And we kept watching it while we walked back to the farmhouse. And then it dumped on us! We got back to the house, soaking wet, and then enjoyed the thunderstorm that it heralded. 2) My first Con*strict, I think it was....[info]sixtail was there and we were both remembering and wishing for NW rain. Most people knew of my fondness for thunderstorms so when one was definitely coming up, I ran for the windows and rejoiced at every bolt, to the amusement of everyone else. It was wonderful. 3) Flying back from Constrict '06, I had Dave Matthews in my ears, a zine in my hands, and far-off lightning storms - so silent from a plane, and sometimes not just away from me, but below me. I felt like I was part of the storms, to be up near them like that. It was humbling and beautiful.

5. Three's Company. So my one and only Escapade, I was to be sharing a four person room with five people. Eeks! I was there with [info]hippediva, [info]smutcutter, [info]bant, and [info]onci_dium. It was going to a floor or chair experience, and then we realized, we had a connecting door with [info]wyomingnot and [info]j_crew_guy. I kinda just said, "I'm staying with YOU" and proceeded to cuddle Camille for two nights. :) We dubbed ourselves Jack, Janet and Terri (Camille didn't want to be Chrissy, too dumb!) and Jack and I still refer to each other as Jack and Janet. Damn, it's five years now!
