Overwhelmed with the Ordinary

yeah, you've seen this around already @ 07:32 am

But I'm having a hard week, so indulge me?

I want to know 36 things about you. I don't care if we never talk, or if we already know everything about each other. (it's painless and great for procrastination) Read more... )

My grandfather @ 02:05 pm

Current Mood: sad

isn't doing well at all. They are saying it could be no more than a couple of weeks.

I need to call down there. I so do not want to. I'm a terrible grandchild.

Apparently, today is One Hit Wonder day. @ 04:26 pm

My morning radio station was playing mostly snippets of One Hit Wonders. They asked for input.

I emailed them about Katrina and the Waves (isn't that an unfortunate and ironic name these days?) for "Walking on Sunshine", and David Soul for "Don't Give Up On Us".

They played snippets of both of them. DJ played "don't" and Newsguy said, "David Soul!" and DJ replied with, "Yeah, from Starsky and Hutch."

That's twice in less than a month I've gotten them to say his name, play his song (or part of it), and mention S&H. Hey, doing my part...

So I took off today and tomorrow @ 07:30 pm

so I could attack the house.

Yeah....didn't get far today.

I *did* get to the post office for Karen and Kam, so that's done. And I sorted a few things to the Goodwill pile and the trash/recycle receptacles.

I decided I was NOT cooking dinner. (Ask [info]sjames_centre. I told her I wasn't going to!) Grabbed Long John Silver's/Taco Bell. Yeah, that's healthy! Washed it down with two rum-and-cokes and am now trying to coherently reply to vid feedback, the most spectacular of which I have *EVER* received from KAM herself.

I was telling [info]sithdragn yesterday, I feel so very, very fulfilled in this fandom. It makes me happy. Rocks my socks. Is reminiscent of my early Q/O days, but different, somehow. More settled, maybe. I feel "warm red" when I think of it. *happy sigh*

Tomorrow, PT, and more attacks on the clutter taking over my life.

I made the phone call @ 09:22 pm

My nose is red, my eyes are puffy, I hope I helped my aunt a bit - my grandmother could only handle speaking with me for a minute before she had to hand it off to Diddy, and poor Diddy is so worn out, so emotionally exhausted, but we talked for nearly an hour, swinging from laughing to crying back to laughing within the same minute.

I tried to advise her as much as I could - it WILL get easier, the grief will begin to strike in odd moments instead of with every breath you take, and the road will smooth out. I also advised her to be prepared, because sometimes, folks like my grandfather, in the space between that he is, will wait until no one is watching, and then let go. They may all be in the kitchen, or stepped out for the mail, and that will be all. And to not try to not let that happen - let it happen, if it does.

He's turned a corner. He has a fever and today was a bad day.

I can't do much but cry with her from 350 miles away.

But right now, she's daddy's only girl watching him die before her eyes. And I've been there, but mine was quick, and hers has dragged out for months and I worry for her now.

Send candles/prayers/thoughts for Robert, Betty, and Diddy. My dad is there, I know he is, he sent the raccoon that my cousin's dog is after for comic relief. I know it.

It won't be long. Could be tonight, could be a couple of weeks - Diddy feels it will be sooner than she or Grandma are really, truly prepared for, or my uncles.

Oh, damn, why does it have to hurt so much.
