Overwhelmed with the Ordinary

nearly packed @ 09:14 pm

Just about ready. Need to pack my backpack. Loaded Glinda with a bunch of ebooks from the Me & Thee site, my mp3 player is ready with some geat songs, and I'll pack something in paper, too. Maybe a zine. Not sure. A lot of my zines are borrowed and I'd hate to have something happen while I've got it traveling. Hm.

I'm riding a knife-edge of emotion - it's like I'm PMSing, but I'm not; AF just left me two days ago. It's just stress.

The girls had their first piano recital and Katie nearly MISSED her first piano recital. As it was, daddy missed them playing, except Jayne's last one, because Katie, having a snit fit when I instructed her to wear something more appropriate than the too-small jeans and too-short tshirt, managed to FORGET the cookies she'd baked that she'd volunteered to bring, and Jayne, arguing with me that she didn't NEED her music books, didn't bring the ONE book she DID need (teacher needed it for the duet she played with her, and so he had to go back home and get those missing things. *sigh* My mom tried to tell me that these things happen, and was so soothing that I just about lost it there, but I couldn't and didn't.

But right now, I'm about to. I'm so tired and so worn out already, and I won't even have time to SEE anyone I know in SF this time.

I need a drink. And we're going to watch Life on Mars. And all the crap I had to get done before I leave tmoorrow? Well, it's done. Is it done well? I dunno. But it's done.

I was asked to relate what I do, just so everyone on the team gets a taste of what everyone else does. My statement? "I react."

And I do. I react to everything. OH NOES A PROBLEM - I react. I'm not feeling very proactive. Just reactive. I am not sure I like that.

Yesterday we went to the Roloff's for the pumpkins. Got to see both Amy and Matt and wave. Except that I like to give celebs their space, I still kinda wish I'd asked Amy for a picture with my kids. If you don't know who the Roloffs are, they have a show on TLC: Little People, Big World.

Time to pack the work puter and my little Hutch drive, in case I find myself with a minute to write or something. I can save it to him instead of the work puter.

I can't wait for Wednesday when I'm home again. I still have employee reviews to do for my two direct reports, but my boss has promised to go over how to do this with my co-asst-mgr and I.

I feel like I'm missing you all so much.

My flight leaves at 8am.
