I'm dreaming of a White Christmas... @ 06:50 pm
Wait, it's no dream! At least it also wasn't a nightmare.
Roy shoveled the driveway half way to the street, found the newspaper by his car where our very good and wonderful driver who usually puts it way up on the porch tossed it after the high berm created by the snowplow prevented his car from getting anywhere NEAR the driveway, and we're glad he didn't try to walk it because it's too damned icy.
Then we got a beautiful, heavy snow shower about an hour before dinner.
Dinner itself pulled off grand. I can do this, lol.
The kids had us awake at 5:20am. O_O Usually they sleep pretty damned well until after 7am, but 7 is when we told them they could wake us up if they were awake earlier. Katie said that she woke up at 4:30. This is the child I can't get out of bed until 11am - practicing early for that "teenage sleep" thing, if there's no school.
She's THRILLED with her cell phone. Her first call was to her cousin to say, "I got a cell phone!" She's already proficient at adding in phone numbers. Her aunt Jill and grandma both made sure she got their numbers in there, and they added her, too.
Jayne got a baby crib with a bumper pad, blanket, pillow and working musical mobile, that all is part of a rolling cart with doors underneath for storage. She's been pushing the darn thing around the living room, just cuz she can.
Karl got a new engine for his train set and two more cars and he's been playing with it off and on ALL day.
We're waiting now for my sister and her family to pop in and do Christmas with us. They came down in their 4x4 rig over the ice and snow rather than all of us (meaning all of their extended families) trying to get to them last night as was the original plan.
Roy and I didn't exchange gifts this year; we typically don't really. This year I bought myself a Fossil watch I really wanted, and he's accessorizing up the new desktop puter we'd already gotten, so we're both satisfied. :) And
master_chatnoir sent me beaucoup bookmarks, including one that has three teensy picture frames hanging from it - and she put in my kids! ***snuggles Chat*** And both my mom and stepmom gave us gift certificates to The Olive Garden. Scary, huh? lol!
I'm tired and worn out, my head cold has mutated into a bit of a chest cold and I'm coughing now and then - productively, but it makes my throat raw. Urgh. I have leftover codeine cough medicine if I feel so inclined later.
And
enednoviel sent me an autographed copy of "Long Way 'Round"! ***snuggles Marion*** EEE there are fingerprints, I know it. ;)
And KAM is posting in LJ as
smudley!!! YAY KAM!! (She says I've created a monster - LOL!)
I've run two loads of dishes already and am scratching my head at how to fit leftovers in the fridge, even after having sent some home with others. Mmmm...ham....
Eartha Kitt passed away. I was singing to her "Santa Baby" while I was in the shower this morning. :(
My back hurts. *whine* I'm ready to put my jammies on and crash already! :)
Hope you all had a good holiday, or if you don't celebrate, at least you had a good Thursday. :)
Peace.
