Last night I dreamt that I had gotten up and started off the day as normal, only it wasn't necessarily a school day. At any rate, at one point I looked outside and while it was late enough for the sun to be up, it was dark as night. I grew very concerned, wondered if there was a storm coming that I wasn't aware of and went outside.
I looked up into the sky and saw stars - black nighttime sky, with stars - and I was seeing the Southern Cross. My dream mind rationalized it as being unusual but possible that the earth at the 45th parallel of the northern hemisphere could possibly be tipped far enough to see this constellation only seen from the southern hemisphere. I marveled at it - it's a dream of mine to see this constellation in the sky, with my own eyes, someday - and I had no one to share it with. By the time I got back into the house and gathered people, the sky had returned to daylight and it was gone.
It was rather like being handed a gift, a moment out of time and place purely for my enjoyment and wish-fulfillment. I stood in my driveway and saw the Southern Cross. There's a meaning behind it, I know.
There was more to the dream involving the kids, animals, and a hole under the house, but I don't know that it has much to do with that misplaced sky.
