Overwhelmed with the Ordinary

A Father's Day thought about my dad @ 09:36 pm

Current Mood: nostalgic

You know that scene in Survival, at the end, when Starsky finds Hutch trapped under his car?

The way Starsky so gently and carefully picks up Hutch's head, to let him know he's there - my dad totally would have done that with a friend.

He may have been a tough guy, but he was a mushball inside, too.

Miss you, Dad.

Funny note: This morning on one of the myriad Sunday morning music shows Portland radio stations seem to have, we were listening to the country station's "Legends and Outlaws" where they were playing Kenny Rogers' "You Picked a Fine Time To Leave Me, Lucille".

Now, if you're a NASCAR fan at all, you may be aware that Darryl Waltrip, who used to drive and is now one of the commentators, once said "you picked a fine time to leave me, loose wheel" when a driver had to face the hell of having a wheel fall off his car.

Roy wants to rewrite all the lyrics to fit that scenario, and boy, would my dad have been RIGHT THERE with him to do that. It would have been hysterical.

Gods, I miss him.
